Vehicle Detail
I am re-listing my very special 1962 Ford Galaxie 500 Victoria. It's a real, honest documented 406 cu. in, “B” code, 385 HP, four speed. I have the original broadcast document that confirms this car’s provenance. It was built at Ford’s Twin Cities, MN assembly plant. The bulk of the restoration was conducted by LaPrade’s Auto in Cornelia County Georgia which has been well known for restoring rare and desirable high performance Fords. The first time I saw the car in 2003, it appeared as a nice, unrestored original except that somewhere along the line it had been changed over to the three deuce setup as would have been the case if it was a “G” Code. A year later, I had learned from LaPrade that quite a bit of restoration had been undertaken, including engine rebuild from carburetors to oil pan, body work and paint in the correct “M” code Corinthian White with clear coat as well as a clean, painted and detailed underside. So it was in 2004, I acquired the car and completed the remainder of the restoration including stainless polishing, bumper chrome plating and new interior. Factory correct seat upholstery, door and side panels and carpeting were sourced from SMS Auto Fabrics in Canby, Oregon and a local shop performed a beautiful and professional installation. Original dash polished up nice with the headliner requiring only a thorough cleaning. Trunk soft trim was sourced from Mac’s in Lockport New York and is nicely detailed with the correct spare tire, jack and tools. In 2018, the clear coat was professionally wet-sanded and buffed and is slick as glass. No one that has seen this car recently can believe that the paint is almost 15 years old. As you can see by the pictures, the car really looks good sitting on those nice painted 15 inch steel wheels with black wall radial tires and correct Ford dog dish hub covers. In addition to the engine compartment being nice and clean, a lot of effort was taken to achieve as much factory correct looking specifications and appearance as possible. Everything has been properly buttoned up in this rare, rare, rare 62 Galaxie. Look closely at the fit and finish of the body panels as they are really nice. In 2005, I was awarded an AACA National First Junior at Hershey. There are some really incredible 406 Galaxies out there and recently, a few of them have brought big money at Mecum and Barrett-Jackson. I’m sure anyone would agree that this one stands pretty tall. Again, it ain't gunna go for cheap but the reserve has been slightly reduced from the recent Ebay listing and is now more than fair and reasonable. Bid with confidence. Sell to USA and Canada only. No overseas bidders. Good Luck!
