Vehicle Detail
2005 Mercedes Benz G55 AMG Grand Edition Mileage: 88,715 Up for sale is a rarest of the rare Mercedes Benz G55 AMG Grand Edition. In 2005, it was up in the air if Merecedes were to import any more G-classes. But on the crux of the US military making a special order, MB decided to create a limited run of "Grand Edition", 500 specially badged models. This is number 56 of 500. The AMG engine takes it from a mild 290 hp engine in the G500 to over 450 hp in this model. It really moves. Furthermore, this has a custom matte bronze paint job. I say paint job because this is not a rattle can plasti-dip or vinyl wrap. You can check all the door jams and seams and know it was done right. In fact, with the custom body work of aluminum side trim and seamlessly removing the rear tire carrier (which gives it such a unique and clean look), the paint and body work alone was over $10k investment. Not to mention, this vehicle has never been off-road, only 88K and change for mileage, and just underwent over $5k of maintenance work scheduled for 100K miles. Also, all the power window motors have been replaced, which is a potential upkeep item for most G wagons in this generation. The tires are nearly new, slightly larger than stock at 285/60R18 vs. 285/55R18. This is about as pristine and rare as you get for a 2005. Is this thing perfect? Almost! Hey, it's 14 years old and there are a few items here and there. The rear driver's side door handle is a little sticky, and the driver's seat motor is finicky. The headliner could use a little work as there are some areas of pulling away from the roof.
