Vehicle Detail
Hello, this car is located in Lombard,IL 60148. This is for my 1971 Ford Maverick 2-door. I received this car on trade from a good friend this past summer, but I really do not have room to keep it so I am trying to sell a few vehicles before winter sets in. My friend had owned this car since 2001,and he did the engine swap/5-lug swap on it over the course of that time. It was originally a 6-cyl 4-lug car. It was already painted as you see it,we think the paint is about 20-years old. I can easily find out anything about that car that I do not know myself. The paint still looks good from 20-ft away, but is starting to show it`s age with scratches/chips,and a little bubbling as-shown. There is a spot on the rear valance where the paint has burned off from the exhaust. The body is very solid and straight overall. When I had it up on the lift, the only real rust that I noticed was a little bit on the inner rocker panels just in front of the rear tires. The floors and frame rails are all solid. The interior looks good,no rips/tears in the seat or headliner, nice dash pad, etc. The padding in the driver seat is a little worn. The carpet isn`t the best but is doing it`s job. There is a Hurst shifter mounted on the floor with an MSD 6AL. The aftermarket tachometer is not hooked up. All of the glass is good. It has a trunk-mounted fuel cell and battery. The trunk floor is good. The gas gauge is not hooked up. It has a 351W V-8 Engine in it with unknown miles,it was gone through with fresh gaskets, timing chain, etc when it was installed in the car. It has headers, aluminum intake aftermarket camshaft, aftermarket carburetor,MSD Distributor,MSD 6AL ignition box, etc. It starts easily, and runs well, has a really nice sound to the exhaust. The transmission is a TCI C4 with maybe 1000-miles on it since it was installed. I believe the rear end is an open 8-inch. I installed brand new American Racing Torque-Thrust wheels with maybe 5 miles on them, the same goes for the tires. 255`s in the rear,165`s up front. There are a ton of new parts underneath the car. Front springs, front shocks, rear shocks, lower control arms, steering linkage, all new brakes, wheel cylinders, master cylinder, and more. There is still an issue with the brakes for some odd reason though, you have to pump the pedal up when you drive it. We bled the lines 4 or 5 times, and replaced the master cylinder twice, and it still has to be pumped up. The power steering pump does need to be replaced. I did also notice that the bushings are fairly worn on the left front upper control arm. Besides the brake pedal issue, and the power steering pump, the car starts, runs, and drives well. We have a clear IL title. I honestly want to keep it,but I just have way too many vehicles and do not want to see it sit outside all winter. You are welcomed and urged to come see it in person if you are able to do so. It is located seconds off of I-355 in Lombard,IL. There is no-reserve,the highest bidder wins. I would like a deposit via paypal to show that you are a serious buyer within 24-hours,and the car paid in full within 1-week. I would like it picked up within 2-weeks. Please call or text me with any questions 708-289-7686 Jim. I am sorry for the long description, but I want no confusion over it`s condition. This will make someone a great winter project to improve upon.On Nov-22-18 at 11:20:33 PST, seller added the following information: I completely forgot to mention that the car does now have Front Disc Brakes! The front spindles and rear axle were sourced from a 1971 Mustang. You can see the front rotors in the pictures. The rears are still drum. I am being told by a bidder that the pedal issue may have to do with the proportioning valve. And yes,the wheels and tires were Brand New 2-months ago and I barely drove the car 5-miles since! I believe the rears are 15x8 and the fronts 15x4.
