World Class Motorcars of St Louis MO is offering a unique German motorcar. This is a 1976 Mercedes 450SLC four passenger coupe. This was the top of the line in terms of price for Mercedes Benz in North America in 1976. The SLC was even more expensive than the sister car the 450SL convertible. This car was designed with 14 inches of extra length between the door and the rear wheel. This allowed for the rear seat and included the louvered rear window. The car is powered by a 4.5L fuel injected V8 mated to a three speed automatic transmission. This car offer many features that we take for granted on the cars of today but were cutting edge in 1976. These things included fuel injection, four wheel disc brakes, heated rear windows, cruise control, electric windows (4) a central locking system and intermittent wipers. There were a few available options and the one that everyone looks for on these cars is the power electric sliding sunroof which if fully operational. There is also a passenger side outside mirror and tinted glass. Total original sticker price of the car was $25617 This compares to other cars of the time like the top of the line Chevrolet Corvette sports coupe that listed for less than $9000 . The window sticker shows the car was finished in what Mercedes called Silver Green Metallic with Moss Green leather seats. The seats retain their original color but are covered in MB Tex instead of leather We acquired this car from the previous owner or almost 13 years During his ownership the cars was repainted and the interior was redone. The paint finish is in excellent condition as he stored the vehicle inside. The interior is in excellent condition as well. The was some top end engine work done at the time of repainting and the car most recently had a new alternator and battery installed. The was driven less than 5000 miles during his years of ownership. The odometer is currently not turning and the previous owner indicated it stopped sometime in the last 18 months and that less than 500 miles had be put on the car during that time. The engine starts first time and runs smooth. Acceleration is excellent and the car drives straight down the road. I have exceeded 80 mph with absolutely no issues and the air conditioning blows cold as normal.
