Vehicle Detail
Don't miss this unique opportunity to own a beautiful Triumph Pre-Unit 650 Twin!!! Due to owning too many motorcycles and not having enough time to enjoy them, I'm selling off most of my collection and reluctantly I've decided to part ways with my matching numbers 1953 Triumph 6T Thunderbird 650 Pre-Unit twin. I've owned this fantastic motorcycle for a couple years having purchased her from an avid Triumph Thunderbird collector and most of our time together she has spent parked in my living room. I've decided that I'd rather not own a motorcycle that I'm not going to ride so it's time for someone else to enjoy her. This lovely bike is 95%+ stock (and did I mention matching numbers!!!), upon purchase I installed new Dunlop K70 tires & heavy duty bikemaster tubes, serviced her, rode her around my neighborhood and then drained the fluids for her extended hibernation. Aside from the new tires, she's also been fitted with a 6 volt solid state regulator and an Amal Monobloc carburetor (for performance and reliability)...beyond that she's as stock as they come. Sprung hub rear wheel, factory rigid frame (last year before Triumph moved to swingarm frames), nacelle front end, Smiths Chronometric Speedometer, gear indicator gearbox, original Lycett solo saddle, Lucas Dynamo & BTH magneto, it's all there! Given the extremely low indicated mileage (38 miles which I am by no means claiming to be correct or original) and condition of the Shell Blue Sheen paint (not perfect but nice overall), I can only assume this is an older restoration that hasn't seen much road use since. A similar model & vintage recently sold on eBay for more than $22,000 and restored examples have sold at auction for $25,000 +... my reserve is substantially less! Keep her as is for a Sunday rider that will surely turn heads or restore to concourse and turn a tidy profit!!! Feel free to ask any and all questions prior to bidding. As with any bike of this age, she is being sold as-is / where-is with no warranty expressed or implied. Any "new" bike of this vintage I purchase I always give a thorough once over and service, should you plan to ride her I would advise that you do the same. All shipping & delivery arrangements & costs are solely the responsibility of the buyer. Bike will be shipped with fluids drained, any crating arrangements are to be handled by purchaser and/or the shipper of your choice.
