Vehicle Detail
This 1972 Chevrolet nova was driven by a little old lady for over 20 years, and has been stored inside under a car cover for the last 5 years. She inherited the car from her mother, but I'm not sure if her mother was the original owner or not. This is a solid nova that is >95% stock, straight (no signs of collision damage), no visible floor board rust, solid doors, windows, etc. This would be a great project car to build or restore. While I appreciate a nice Nova, I have too many other projects, so I'm just moving this car along in the condition that I picked it up in. Odometer is currently showing a little over 35k miles, and given the wear showing on the brake pedal, it looks like there is 135K on the car. Car is way too solid for it to be 235K. Car has new exhaust, new carburetor, new starter, new master cylinder, new valve cover gasket, newer radiator hoses. I'm sure there has been more work/parts, but these items i found receipts for or it is obvious that the component has been replaced. All this work was done before car was put into storage 5 years ago. The interior appears to be original. White Vinyl seats (3 small splits on bottom of driver seat), rubber floor mat (no carpet), stock steering wheel, stock door panels (bottom edges are fraying), stock head liner (dome light cover/lens is missing), sun visor has original "Engine Starting Instructions", and a stock/dealer option tissue box holder??. The not so good - dash has been cut for aftermarket stereo (car has no stereo/speakers), Ash tray door has non-stock decal/sticker for seat belt use, and a 3rd brake light has been installed on rear speaker deck. Paint looks too good to be original, and is in good condition, except for trunk lid where paint appears to have worn through from excessive polishing/washing?? Vinyl top is in excellent shape - no tears, no shrinking. Lower quarters have the usually rust, especially on the drivers side which has gorilla tape covering the rust in the pictures. Lower doors/fenders show tell tell signs of rust under the paint. Upper quarter panel on driver side has 1" rust hole (covered with gorilla tape in the picture) below the vinyl top chrome trim. This is a Seattle car that was NOT driven in snow, plus they don't use salt on roads in Seattle, so the panel rust is from accumulation of organic debris over the years and isolated to the lower sections of the panels - the inner fender wells are not rusted. Hood, doors, fenders are straight and fender/door lines are incredibly straight and even. Hood shows no signs of rust and hinges are solid and operate smoothly. Doors open and close with little effort (this is the nicest shutting drivers door I've ever operated), are tight and have no door sag. All glass is intact, in good shape, and windows open and close smoothly. Chrome is in good condition, but does have minor signs of pitting. Rear bumper has a "ding" on the drivers side. Interior of trunk has some surface rust, but nothing serious - just needs wire brushing and paint. The car has a spare tire, but it does not have a Jack. 250 CI Straight 6 engine starts right up and runs great and strong. and 2-Speed automatic transmission shifts smooth. Car was a daily driver and was kept mechanically sound. Exhaust is brand new (no discoloration) from exhaust manifold back. Have receipt for new carburetor, and the starter and master cylinder look like they have been replaced too, The not so good - heater core leaks and is disconnected, an aftermarket cruise control has been added, rusted battery tray, aftermarket fuel line (just looks bad/not factory bent line), and misc. electrical tape (red/orange) on some of the wires (not sure what they were doing with this??) Car starts right up and runs great - I didn't have to do anything to get it to start after sitting for 5 years! Tires appear to be new, but they do have flat spots from being stored for 5 years. Flat spots can be seen when rotating the tires and are noticeable when driving at certain speeds. The car is extremely solid, still has original floor pans, trunk pan, and frame rails are also solid! This car, in my opinion is in better shape than your average nearly 50 year old car, I say this because some people expect a new car. This car is not new, it is not perfect, paint has some imperfections, and the lower quarter panels ARE rusted. This is NOT a show car! It sounds and looks good going down the road, and runs, drives, and stops, but expect that it may need additional work if you plan to just buy and drive it. You are welcome to ask questions and I will do my best to accommodate you. A deposit of $500 is due at the end of the auction and is non-refundable. Car is listed locally so I reserve the right to end auction if it sells locally. Please do not bid of you are not serious. Thanks for looking!
