Up for auction is a beautiful 1993 BMW R100GSPD. These classic machines are getting harder and harder to find, especially in this sort of unmolested condition. This bike is all original and super clean. I had to look twice when I bought it when I saw it had 34,000 miles on the clock. I bought this bike a six months ago from an older gentleman in central Washington who kept it in a heated garage and rode it in the summer. It was one of many motorcycles in his collection and he just wasn’t riding it so he sold it t me. He was the second owner and had it for about 2 years. The first owner, from Vancouver Washington, had it for the first 22 years! It shows no signs of ever being dropped or wrecked and there was a complete maintenance history showing engine and transmission/final drive oil changes every 4000 miles. I have several other BMWs and really couldn’t pass it up…but now I’m running out of room so I’m passing it along for someone else to enjoy. Pros: With just 34,000 miles this bike presents nicer than most I have seen. Wheels are clean and shiny and the engine, hubs and final drive castings have virtually zero oxidation. The ignition and charging systems are stock. There is no wiring voodoo and the previous owner added a nice on/off switch on the dash so you can switch off the headlight if you want. This helps to keep things charged up with the stock charging system while running accessories like heated clothing. It has a Parabellum windshield, dual horns, the stock BMW tool kit and a brand new Progressive Suspension shock. The transmission shifts perfectly and was rebuilt at 24,000 miles with new bearings, seals and a circlip by BMW Motorcycles of Western Oregon (a well-known airhead specialist!) The rear end/drive line is good to go! It comes with the stock BMW saddlebags and BMW chrome mounts. They are in great shape…not cracked or broken, and are keyed the same as the rest of the machine. The top end was cleaned, resealed and torqued within the last 2000 miles. There are no leaks. All the fluids have just been changed, new sparkplugs, air and oil filters, valves adjusted and carbs cleaned and synched. It’s got a big AGM battery. Click the bike into neutral, turn the choke, push the start button and the bike fires up and runs flawlessly. I wouldn't hesitate to ride this bike anywhere. The tires are Bridgestone Battlax BT45r’s with less than a year on them and 2000 miles. Cons: Even though bike super clean it is un-restored and does show some signs of its age. There are a few rock chips here and there and the front fender extender was not professionally painted. The original white handguards are missing. There are some small very small scratches and the finish is rubbed through in a few places on the handlebars, frame, and engine crash guards. They are very small but I’m very picky and I’m trying to very clear on the condition. The stock graphics on the right side of the fuel tank are not pristine but still in really good shape. The neutral light on the dash is not working and after checking the circuit the culprit is a bad neutral safety switch in the bottom of the transmission. I have ordered one and it will be included with the sale to the new owner. It could also use new choke and throttle cables since I believe these are the 25-year-old originals. Finally, like all airheads, the machine really just needs to be ridden, maintained and enjoyed by a loving new owner! There is a clean and clear Utah title in my name.
