Vehicle Detail
I have up for sale a 1977 Chevrolet Monte Carlo from Texas with 182,600 miles on it. The vehicle has a 350 Chevy motor, 4 barrel carburetor, power windows, power locks, electronic trunk opener and swivel buckets seats. I was told by the previous owner that the engine and transmission have been worked on but are original to the vehicle. I have owned the vehicle for six years and put roughly 7,000 miles on it. I just drove the vehicle in the summer months to and from work so I had to make sure it was dependable. The previous owner told me he was the original owner. Every 3,000 myself and the previous owner had kept the oil changed. I have been using 10w30 Royal Purple full synthetic oil which has zinc and phosphorous in it which the older motors need to prevent premature internal wear. At 125,000 miles a valve job was done by the previous owner. 5/8/12 at 175,453 I had headers, a dual exhaust (catalytic converter removed), mild cam, double roller timing chain, spark plugs, wires, master cylinder, thermostat, water pump, coolant hoses, alternator, a/c compressor, belts, valve cover gaskets, cooling fan and air filter housing replaced. 5/17/13 I had the transmission fluid, filter and pan gasket replaced and the brake booster replaced. The previous owner stated he kept the transmission fluid replaced every 30,000 miles. When I had it changed it came out clean and there was no debris in the pan. 7/10/15 at 178,485 I had the valve and exhaust seals changed because I was noticing oil consumption. 9/28/15 front lower ball joints, all four shocks and the starter were replaced. 6/2/17 I had the headers and starter wrapped because the headers were causing the starter to get too hot. At that same visit I had different spark plugs and heavier spark plug wires installed so the header heat would not be an issue. The header heat is a known issue with these small block Chevy 350 motors being how close the starter is to the exhaust. The vehicle has an MSD ignition box. All four tires including the spare were replaced 6/10/16 at 179,540 miles with BF Goodrich Radial TA’s. An optima battery was installed in 2017. I have only ran 100% gas in this vehicle or premium Shell V power fuel with a Joe Gibbs additive. The vehicle leaks transmission fluid from the front pump when parked over the winter. Otherwise when the vehicle was driven regularly I only noticed seepage. The brake pedal has a harder feel being the mild cam changed the vacuum. The fuel economy meter is inaccurate due to the vacuum change from the mild cam. Both front seats need to be recovered. The top dash pad does have a crack down the center of it and the has the material coming loose on the driver’s side outer corner. The air conditioning needs to be recharged. The paint does have white fade spots on it from the clear coat. Being this vehicle was a daily driver most of its life it does have dings and dents on the body and hood and some small stone chips in the windshield glass. The vehicle has never been out in the snow or salt so it is very clean up above and below. There were two rust bubbles on the roof and the passenger’s front fender that I accidently broke so I made exterior patches to cover them being that I thought one day I would have the car repainted. The car drives very nice for its age. Both myself and the original owner were anal and always had good parts installed and qualified people to work on the vehicle. The only reason I am selling the vehicle is to make room in my garage to park my truck. Last winter was a bad winter in Northeastern Ohio. The vehicle looks good from 10ft away. When you get close is where you see it’s imperfections. The vehicle is in excellent shape for a 41 year old vehicle and would make a great driver or restoration project. I have tried to explain this vehicle as accurately as possible and to the best of my knowledge. The vehicle is being sold as is. I expect cash from the buyer upon pickup of the vehicle.
