NO RESERVE MAKE OFFER. I have known about this car for many years sitting in a barn in North Carolina, it belonged to my wife's uncle. I had been trying to buy this car for many years he would not sell it. He put the car up years ago on stands. Recently contacted me asking me if I would still be interested in the old Corvette out in the barn, I was shocked and told him yes but I had already bought one that I was happy with. Despite this I purchased the car just as you see it, Then had it transported to my home in Dearborn Heights Michigan, "Auto Transport 123 was the Carrier" fairly inexpensive. See pics. Description: The car was pulled out the barn seeing sunshine for the first time in years all the fluids were removed and changed out with fresh, A brand new battery was installed to get her to crank over, One two three she fired up. The floats in the carb seemed a bit sticky we used sea foam in the gas tank and lucus and even some marvel mystery oil, it really did help out now seems to run and idle just fine on its its own. Could really use a full tank of premium gas run through it, I'm sure it will get better over time. The Corvette has been run to full operating temp with no leaks. It does not smoke tic or have any funny noises, it runs solid. I put it in drive, it went right into gear like it was driven last week. So away it went down the long country driveway. I turned the car back around as the brakes seem soft and need some attention. Car has only 66000 original miles. Its dusty & trusty runs drives but does need a complete professional detailing in & out. I did hand wax the T-Tops and they came out amazing, a bright red. Buffing wheel and some compound along with a wax job ect would make a world of difference. It's missing the original factory stereo a pioneer cd was put in place but does not work either. The center console arm rest where the emergency brake lever sits is cracked, but I did have a replacement arm pad for it. The paint has a few scuffs and dings & chips all to be expected from a 42+ year old car, but amazingly still looks good. and will shine up. The carpet is wore out on the drivers side and the drivers side door only opens from the inside. Both driver & passenger outer door handles are flush and work fantastic, passenger door operates perfect. Both chrome handles are in excellent condition. The seats are mint along with door panels, also all the other interior trim pieces seem to be in great shape and all original. Tilt Telescopic steering wheel is in full working order with no issues as well. The T-Tops are perfect and show no signs of leaks with good seals even the inner headliners are mint. Power windows and all dash gauges are in working order oil, temp, clock ect. Car has Air Conditioning although is non functional I'm sure it would work as its all there and complete, might need some rubber seals & some fresh Freon. This Corvette is rock solid has no rust issues at all. The Bird cage and all frame rails are in perfect condition. The car is pretty clean, the body is laser straight & mechanically its solid minus the brake issue. it still stops but they are spongy feeling. This is and always has been an adult owned Corvette. This is a Mans car, No air bags, anti lock brakes, no safety equipment, Pull the T-Tops off crank up some 70's REO Speedwagon and hit the road hair blowing the wind. Think summer this is the one to own people. Never seen a snow flake ever in its life. I have both sets of original GM Corvette keys both work perfect in the door locks and ignition. A clean original North Carolina title in my wife's Uncles name will be provided. In short this is a turn key running driving 1976 Corvette Stingray that needs very little attention to be a daily driver. A solid weekend and your on the road enjoying this vintage vette. Questions feel free to ask I tend to respond within a few minutes. Text- 313 826-9497 I have hundreds of pics from pulling it out of the Barn to the complete under carriage. Call me. The car has to go no room. Ebay used to let you upload 24 pics now 16 is all you get. Again call me I have hundreds I can share with you. As with all used cars its recommended you come take a look at it have it inspected take it for a test drive to form your own opinion. THE FOLLOWING EXCERPT WAS TAKEN FROM THE INTERNET DOING AN IN DEPTH RESEARCH ON THE 76 CORVETTE..JUST A GOOD READ. 1976 models featured new floor panels shielding the catalytic converter exhaust. These floor panels weighed less than the previous fiberglass floor and reduced interior noise levels. Horsepower rose to 210 hp (157 kW) for the L-82.. The optional cast aluminum wheels were finally made available, which reduced the unsprung weight of the car by 32 pounds. Nearly 15% of the cars were ordered with the new wheels at a cost of $299. A standard steel rim spare was used. This was the last year for optional white striped tires, as 86% of the cars were being delivered with the optional white lettered tires. A new rear nameplate for the rear bumper cover was introduced, eliminating the individual "Corvette" letters used since 1968. A welcome change was the "Vega GT" 4-spoke steering wheel, its smaller diameter did provide extra room and eased entry/exit. GM's "Freedom" battery, a new sealed and maintenance-free unit, was now installed in all cars. The rear window defroster option was changed from the forced-air type of previous years to the new "Electro-Clear" defogger, an in-glass heated element type. Even without a convertible model, the Corvette still set new sales records. Car and Driver recorded 6.8 second 0-60 times in the L-82 automatic equipped 1976 Corvettes. The magazine ordered an L-82 for a 4,000-mile (6,400 km) road trip to Alaska. C&D summarized: "The Corvette was a big hit as we expected and thoroughly enjoyed the car, we were surprised at how well it withstood the ordeal...once we recovered from the trip we conceded that we'd developed new respect for a car we'd long regarded as something of a put on. In every sense of the word, our Yukon Corvette proved to be tough and we'd have to say that even the production versions impressed us as coming closer to being real touring cars than we might ever have thought The 1976 Corvette included a modified hood This eliminated a howl that could be heard in the cabin due to the old intake placement next to the front window. "Astro Ventilation" was removed and the ducts on the rear deck were removed along with it. Aluminum wheels were finally available and were installed on 6,253 Vette's. A partial steel underbody replaced some fiberglass to improve rigidity and shield the cabin from engine and exhaust heat. The new Turbo Hydra-Matic 350 Automatic transmission available it was lighter and also improved shifting at wide-open throttle. The Turbo Hydra-Matic 400 was kept with the optional V-8 and the torque converter was updated. The convertible option was no longer available. A new badge on the tail of the car was all one piece instead of the seperate letters used before. The new "sport" steering wheel was smaller than previous wheels, is was also the same wheel used on the Chevrolet Vega this year. this is the only year for the Vega steering wheel.
