Vehicle Detail
Here is a beautiful two owner, original matching numbers, 1968 Volvo 122S for sale. This is a rare opportunity to buy a beautiful classic in great original condition. This is not a concourse show car, but a true great running honest survivor, with a lot of documentation dating back since 1968. The car was bought as a US spec car and delivered from the factory in Sweden on the “EDP” program (European Delivery Plan), and shipped to the Bay area in California where it has been registered since. The coveted original California black license plates are still on it! If you are a fan of classic Volvo's, you may be aware of that 1968 was the last year the 122S was sold in the US (it continued for -69 and -70 in Europe). 1968 was also the year the “butterfly” safety steering wheel was introduced, as well as standard headrests for the front seats. For its age, this is a very clean and well maintained classic that runs great without any major issues. It has clocked just over 304K miles with regular maintenance and a stack of receipts to prove it. Some of the bigger work includes rebuild of the original engine at 226K, replacement of clutch and rear main seal at 287K. The last 3000 miles have treated it to restoration of internals of front seats, replaced radiator, heater and radiator hoses, heater valve, fan-belt, front brake calipers, voltage regulator, two new rear tires and hydraulic clutch cylinders (both master and slave). There are a lot of receipts and documentation to prove ownership history and the maintenance and repairs. There are even dated pictures of the odometer readings! The original owners manual & warranty books, proving correct matching body and engine numbers come with the car. The body has a few dings here and there and has been in a couple fender benders with parts of it repainted, but it looks great and very correct original with the Pearl White (paint code 79) from the factory. There is only some surface rust, e.g. in the engine bay and some small areas outside of the body. But there are no serious rust issues that would require welding attention, its only minor cosmetics. The underside is also very solid with most of the undercoating from the factory still intact! The interior is very clean and in good condition for its age with only a bit of fade of the red color. The seats are more comfortable than many current cars! It has a radio which does not work and a few other minor issues, like a handle missing on passenger side vent window, rubber floor worn in back seat area as seen in one picture and a broken dome light lens. This is a very dependable and fun classic that is pretty peppy for its age with its bullet proof 115 HP B18B with twin SU carburetors, coupled with the four speed manual M40 gearbox. The engine pulls very strong with no measurable oil consumption or excessive smoke. The car has current California registration paid to January 2019!Join me for a test drive in this video!: -68 Volvo test drive - YouTube Video will open in a new window [isdntekvideo] If you have any questions, please feel free to ask.
