This is an amazing Barn find. I came across this bike when I was on the hunt and had a lead to buy a classic BMW and it was sitting in the guys garage. He bought it from a lady in Oregon in April of 2000 and brought it to his home in San Jose, Parked it and never rode it! I bought it, transported it to my shop and flushed the fuel system, changed oil, checked and clean the spark plugs and put a new battery, had the engine moved e few times in gear and then started it without the spark plug wires to get the oil around the engine, then hooked up the spark plug wires and she started right up with choke on low at first. Got her registered and titled in my name and ride it 30 miles on those tires at 50 to 60 miles per hour, which i think it was a real bad idea looking back. The fuel tank has a dent from him dropping it once in his garage and I also tried to preserve it as original as I could by just peeling the clear coat on the side decals on the tank and re-clear them. It runs great and the speedometer and odometer are working properly and yes the milage is actual milage. I also saved the Oregon plate that is also included in the auction all thought the motorcycle is registered with current California plates and I have California title.
