My name is Joe and I sell vehicles differently than most dealers. Buying your next car or truck through one of my NO RESERVE auctions is the best way to take the games out of your next automotive purchase. I personally road test each vehicle before it is offered for sale so I can give you my first hand opinion of how it runs and drives. Please keep in mind that I am not a mechanic. Each vehicle is represented accurately and honestly to the best of my knowledge and ability. Please take the time to check out each of the 70+ photos and read this entire written description, as well as our Terms & Conditions, carefully BEFORE asking questions or placing a bid as most answers can be found in at least one of those places. An administrative fee of $149 will be added to the final bid of each auction. Up for a NO RESERVE auction is a 2004 Volvo S40. The S40 is Volvo's compact sedan and is just a good little car, in general. It's turbocharged 1.9L engine is simply Volvo's legendary inline five cylinder engine that is just missing a cylinder...which is more than enough power for this little car. On top of that, you get everything Volvo has to offer in safety advances. I would rate the exterior of this S40 to be in ABOVE AVERAGE CONDITION for its age and mileage. As you can see, this is a good looking little sedan. It is finished in Silver Metallic over tan leather interior. The silver finish shines nicely and looks smooth all around. As with any older vehicle, please expect a few flaws and imperfections commensurate with age and mileage. However, you'd be hard pressed to find anything worth complaining about as you walk around the exterior of this S40. All of the body lines are nice and straight. The hood, doors and trunk all open and close easily. All of the trim and moldings are present and show well. All of the glass and lenses are intact. The factory sport alloy wheels give this little sedan an aggressive look and are wrapped in nice rubber. Please take your time and check out each of the photos carefully. I would rate the interior of this S40 to be in AVERAGE CONDITION for its age and mileage. The door cards are clean and tight. The dash and headliner are clean. The carpets are clean and show well for their age. Both front seats are power operated and heated. The seats show a little normal wear for their age but are clean and comfortable overall. The power windows, locks, seats, mirrors and sunroof all work properly. The climate control system is fully automatic and appears to be working properly. It's too cold to confirm that the air conditioner is cooling effectively but the heater works well. The audio system is original and sounds good. The trunk is spacious and clean. The worst thing I can say about the interior is that I noticed the right front carpet was a little damp when I got in the car (we've been getting a good bit of rain and snow as of when I wrote this) so I'm guessing maybe one of the door seals is leaking or maybe there are some leaves clogging the outlet to the one sunroof drain. Mechanically, this S40 appears to be in good running and driving condition. The turbocharged 1.9L engine starts easily and runs smoothly. I didn't notice any leaks and the engine does not smoke. Her road manners are excellent for an older car. The suspension feels tight and well sorted. Steering and braking feel good, too. The engine keeps proper temperature and feels strong. The automatic transmission engages smoothly and shifts properly with zero issues. Out on the highway, she drives nice and straight with absolutely no complaints. This little S40 drives better than some with much less miles. If you're looking for an inexpensive little car that is easy on gas but you don't want a stripped down little Japanese econobox, a Volvo S40 should be on your list.
