Vehicle Detail
1968 Mustang convertible 6 cylinder automatic I do not know much about the cars history because I did not get a good history from the previous owner. He bought it from his friends widow and she did not know much about it, but had owned it a long time. The picture with the VIN sanded is from the North Carolina Police. When anyone goes to register an old car in NC, they have to come out and verify its not stolen, salvaged, or frauded. It passed the background check from them, so at least I know its good. The mustang is in fairly good shape for the age and not being previously fully restored. It appears to have been repainted at one time and some kind of body work done. I do not know the extent of the work or when it was done, but its pretty straight. Doesn't seem to have a lot of rust from what I can see underneath, but Ive never put it on a lift and really looked closely at every inch of the bottom. Possible there was some fixed when it was painted years ago. I did find a smaller spot in the trunk, but for a 60's convertible, its pretty good. Thats why I bought it. The seat covers and top are newer and in good shape, but the carpet is sun beat as you can see in the photos. The car runs well and is fun to drive. It doesn't smoke oil, but does run a little rich. It does have a small oil leak at the front of the motor and pulls to the left a bit when you brake hard. Has an nice after market radio in it. (alpine) The car can be driven and I have driven around town with no problems or worries. EVERYTHING WORKS on the car...even the blinkers in the hood and the hydraulics for the top work well and don't leak. Its basically a 20 footer and fun to drive around and get waves, but could benefit from a full restoration or restomod. The odometer is at 28184, but I'm sure its been turned over in its past. I just have no way to be sure how many miles are on the car or the motor, but I doubt its only 28,184. I bought the car because it is a pretty clean convertible with no real lineage to worry about I.E not a shelby, cobra jet, GT etc etc and would be a great base for a restomod. I have driven it around quite a bit and have had fun, but I just don't have the room or time to do a tear down and restore. This is not a show winning perfect car. Yes, it runs and drives and is fun, but really needs to be totally gone through and redone. I do have the clean title in hand and this is a NO RESERVE AUCTION, SO BID HIGH AND BID OFTEN. There is no warranty or returns and I have tried to describe to the best of my ability and knowledge. Good luck and happy bidding On Jan-17-18 at 12:30:48 PST, seller added the following information: *Added pictures of the underneath that I just took today (Jan 17th) for those who emailed me and requested. The other pictures I took on Jan 16th. * While taking the pictures, I noticed a small leak coming from the transmission pan gasket. Its been really cold here and I drove it yesterday for the first time in 6 months, so that might have something to do with it. It is a new development that I did not post prior. On Jan-18-18 at 13:56:50 PST, seller added the following information: Spent some time under her today and replaced the transmission pan gasket, leak seems to be solved.
