1939 BUICK SPECIAL SEDANArt-Deco Design of 80 years AgoNo Reserve Auction True Survivor all original with straight 8 cylinder motor. A powerful step-up from the 6 cylinder of the previous year. It has been well maintained & gently driven.Excellent running motor & transmission, newer brakes & tires First year vehicle with coil spring suspension and not leaf springs, first year column shift, and first year turn signals. Original factory black paint looks great but isn't perfect (some checks) . Wood inlay on dash and door panels very good. Original Optional a.m. radio with "B-U-I-C-K" letter on each push button. Optional heater & turn signals. The turn signals are not located with the brake light but rather above the license plate as per Buick specs in '39. Dash mounted clock and Buick Air Control system. The original mohair interior is very good including seats, door panels, dash and headliner. No tears, no worn areas and no water stains. The rear seat is like your living room sofa ! Original 1939 Factory Optioned Steering Wheel Lock as seen on today's cars.Original "bakelight" steering wheel with no cracks, peeling, or damage. Carpet as opposed to rubber on the floor make for a comfortable ride. All exterior & interior chrome is intact and straight and Very Good to Excellent Condition. The prominent front grill is really a stand out that calls attention to the craftsmanship of these vehicles. "Suicide Doors" for better egress and all doors close perfectly. Factory Optioned Fender Skirts are irreplaceable today.This vehicle was years ahead of its time ! Ready to cruise down the road. I have taken her to cruise-ins and car shows showing 2nd Place in "Unrestored Class V 1932-1949". Newer whitewall tires, 6.50x16's. Paint does have imperfections from age but absolutely no rust. On Jan-01-18 at 09:33:36 PST, seller added the following information: An Ebayer contacted me and informed me the 1939 Buick was not the first year with the straight 8. I checked resources and the following details were found: With the original brochure I stated the new straight 8 was used. This information I mistook from the Straight 6 of past to the Straight 8 of the 1939 Buick lineup. The wording is vague and not concise. Researching more through Wikipedia and others, Buick increased the size of the motor from 3.8L (233 cu. in.) to the more stout 4.1L (248 cu. in.) straight 8 & full restyling riding on the 120" wheelbase in 1939.
