Vehicle Detail
1979 Honda CBX Super Sport. This bike has had an amateur restoration. That is how I purchased it several years ago. I replaced the factory oil lines with stainless steel braided lines, installed new NOS tank badges, had the carburetors professionally rebuilt, fork seals replaced and performed several maintenance procedures to ensure it was in good mechanical condition. It was purchased new, still in the crate, in 1983 from Manteca Honda in Manteca, CA. It still has the original blue California license plate, and is currently registered in my name. The original tool kit is present, but no owners manual. It has also had an alternator conversion done, which is an improvement on the original design. The seat was also recovered at some point. The pipes and mufflers currently on the bike are completely built from stainless steel, by Supertrapp. It comes as seen in the photos, with a brand new set of aluminum velocity stacks that are nicely polished. The tires were new when I purchased it, and are still in great shape. Brakes function as they should, and it's a blast to ride. I have used only non-ethynol racing fuel since the carbs were rebuilt, so no nasty gunk will build up again. I believe the price is reasonably set, considering how difficult it is to find this particular year CBX; However, feel free to make an offer. I own too many bikes and can't ride them all enough, so I've decide to sell a few. Besides, I need to paint a vehicle I have, so I'm hoping to fund the paint work by selling this bike. There are some broken fins on the left side of the head, which prompted me to install a set of crash bars. It does not leak, or have any issues whatsoever. The guy I bought it from hid the broken fins by building them from epoxy, which melted off, the first time I rode it. The tachometer intermittently has gear noise. I'm sure it needs some lube somewhere. one tab is missing from the right side cover, but doesn't affect its securement on the bike. This is a very nice bike, perfect for using on a regular basis. No rides for liability reasons. I may deliver this bike, depending upon final sale price and location. Delivery will be negotiated on an individual basis, and is not included as part of the sale. I have an enclosed trailer for shipping.
