Vehicle Detail

Please read the entire description as this car is in need of service. This car is in overall good condition and is running but needs service to run well. InteriorThe interior is in good/very good condition for its age with 108,000 miles. As can be expected the leather shows some wear on the driver seat but otherwise is in good condition - no tears or stains. Floor fabric has several stains on it that would likely be removed with shampoo (see pics). The hatchback area comes with the OEM rubber mat. Three floor mats are included. I am the second owner and purchased the car from a dealer in Sacramento with 90,000 miles on it. All functions of the interior work as they should (cold air, no broken buttons, etc.) PaintPaint is in good condition for its age, as can be expected several small rock chips in the front and a few dings (all pictured to the best of my ability - they are few and small so do not picture well). Bumpers have several scuffs. TiresTires have about 3/16 inches to the tread wear indicators - and are probably at 40%-50%. Engine and Transmission: At 99,000 miles the car seized a main a crankshaft bearing. The engine was replaced with a used engine from another Outback with 120,000 miles on the engine, per the recommendation of my mechanic. In addition, we replaced the intercooler and replaced the turbo with a new aftermarket turbo. All together, I’ve spent about $9,000 on the engine, turbo and intercooler. However, the car is experiencing an acceleration issue. The car doesn't accelerate until the gas pedal is pressed way down, then downshifts suddenly and accelerates sharply. My layman’s diagnosis is that the turbo isn’t providing boost at lower RPM’s. It exhibits this behavior in all gears primarily between 2000 and 3500 RPM. The turbo appears to boost fine at RPM’s higher than 3500. The car starts without trouble and all other systems appear fine. My mechanic appears unable to solve the problem and I’m unwilling to fund further fishing expeditions. My mechanic believes he can fix it, but we have upgraded to a larger SUV for family reasons. I would describe this car as a mechanic’s special. In other words, you should know what you are doing to buy this car. NotesPlease note that I have made every effort to disclose this car as accurately as possible. Please contact me if you have any questions that have not been answered. I believe it has a lot of life left in it based on how it drives, shifts, and runs as well as our experience with 6 other Subarus. Good luck bidding. If you have negative feedback or no feedback I will reject your bid unless you contact me in advance. On shipping, you are responsible for shipping but I will make every attempt to get the car to you as cheaply as possible. Finally, this is a no-reserve auction and will go to the highest bidder. I’m happy to field any questions you might have. Best of luck bidding. My favorite part from the Car and Driver review:“We're drawn strongly to the idea of a wagon that drives like a good car yet has nearly nine inches of ground clearance (along with pretty respectable approach and departure angles) and a four-wheel-drive system that will scramble up a rock-strewn grade like no leather-lined, quiet, smooth-riding luxury vehicle has a right to. We like that this Subaru is fast and stable on the road without ever suggesting its dual-purpose mechanicals. And we like very much that there is now a turbo Outback. Subarus were always cool. Now more of them are fast, too. That's progress.” On Oct-25-17 at 16:47:47 PDT, seller added the following information: Per a request from a bidder, I have the records from the engine repair.
