Vehicle Detail
A beautiful 1984 Volkswagen Rabbit GTI MK1, Rare Combination of Red Interior with Royal Red Exterior. Great overall condition for the year, especially the interior that is in awesome original condition!113k Original Miles, Matching Numbers, and Accident Free. This is an excellent example to add to anyone’s collection. This is the rare GTI Non-Sunroof Model, which is often more desirable due to the greater headroom, weight saving, stronger/sturdier body, and lack of potential leaks. The car was stored in dry storage for over 20 years by a VW collector, who recently passed away. A true barn find. I acquired the car from the gentleman’s family who had recently had the car reconditioned, and made ready for the road again. Motor has been gone through and serviced, new brakes. Soft lines, hard lines, fuel lines, exhaust, and best of all No fluid leaks!!Solid car considering it is 33+ years old. Hard to find in this condition. Prices on these are on the rise so it would be well worth restoring the car if you chose too. The desirable Royal Red paint is original to the car, and in decent shape, with mostly surface rust in a few places. It has never been resprayed. Has some cosmetic issues, due to it being the OG factory paint, but nothing that cannot be attended too with a little love. Still shines! The worst are areas around the inside lip of tailgate and front/bottom of doors, but overall very presentable, and an ideal candidate for a restoration, or enjoy and drive as is. The only corrosion through the outer skin is on the front lower driver’s door, and a spot the size of a dime on the tailgate currently under a sticker I believe was placed there by the previous owner. (looks old) … There is a crack in the driver’s rear tail light turn signal area. The original red interior is like a time capsule. It is in great condition! With no cracks in the dash, no sagging headliner or missing parts and everything works, as it should. Best part of the car in my opinion! … This GTI does not have factory AC installed. As far as I can tell the frame and underneath is solid and in great shape. Solid spare wheel area, floors etc. It drives down the road fine, and everything seems to be in working order. Tight steering, it pulls great & shifts through all gears smooth. Could do with the timing adjusted & hand brake needs adjustment. The exhaust is a full new system, however the new tail pipe has been mounted close to the rear valance so at idle it can knock against the metal valence a little. Should be an easy fix with a longer rubber mount to drop the muffler slightly.Four original black/silver Snowflake wheels in good condition, with an extra all-silver Snowflake wheel, plus the spare wheel. Has original tool kit, jack etc. The California Licence plate is just one I had from an old VW. The car is located in Hudsonville Michigan USA 49426, and has a clean Michigan title.Overall, this is a nice example of a Volkswagen MK1 GTI. As you can see in the background of some of my photos, I am an air-cooled VW guy, so not as familiar with the water-cooled VW’s.
