Vehicle Detail
2002 Dodge Ram 2500 Quad Cab Cummins Diesel 4x4 SLT 3,707 Original, Actual Miles The truck has been meticulously cared for and has been in climate controlled storage its entire life. It has never been driven in the rain or the snow. The seats have been covered from the first day it was purchased and there have been towels on the seat and floor every time it has been driven. The HVAC has always been run on vent prior to parking it in order to dry up any condensation in the ductwork that could make it smell musty. In other words this is a pristine, immaculate truck. This truck is probably the best, lowest mileage second generation Dodge Ram in existence unless Dodge kept one in a museum. Engine 5.9 Cummins -Head was ported and polished, new intake valves, o-ring grooves cut to handle higher boost pressure. Intake was machined off and new sheetmetal intake was made and Jet Hot coated. Head work was done at ZZ Custom Fabrication.-ARP 625+ head studs. -Hamilton cam was installed for enhancing flow and to help spoolup with the turbos. New heavy duty pushrods were installed along with new valve springs with higher spring rates. -Killer dowel pin (KDP) was tabbed when the cam was installed. -Source Automotive compound turbos were installed. Secondary is an S362/71/13 with stainless steel turbine housing that had the wastegate ported. Primary is an S480/96. All hot pieces (secondary and primary turbine housing and hotpipe connecting the exhaust between the two turbos was Cerakoted inside and out). -Htt 3 piece exhaust manifold was port matched by ZZ Custom Fabrication and Jet Hot coated. -5” Exhaust into a muffler with dual 4 inch outlets. Each hanger was custom made to hang the exhaust at a perfect height. Stainless steel band clamps at every joint in lieu of standard u-bolt clamps. -“250 horse” injectors were flow tested and installed. -FASS lift pump, filtration and water separation system was installed with oversize fuel lines to the injection pump. New fuel sump was installed in the fuel tank to provide more fuel volume. -Banks “Monster Ram” intake horn and oversized pipe from intercooler to horn. Intake came powder coated red. Had the red stripped and the raised “Banks” lettering ground smooth and the aluminum polished. The intercooler pipe came powder coated grey. I had the pipe stripped and powder coated silver vein to match the Source Automotive silver vein powder coated charge pipes. -Installed Banks grid heater delete to improve airflow. Had the aluminum polished before it was installed. -Outerwears black air filter precleaner to cover the blue air filter so it wouldn’t clash with the rest of the engine and the filters only come in blue and red. -Edge Comp Hot unlock programmer. Wired into the injection pump with a custom machined factory aluminum cover plate. Transmission 47RE -Sonnax billet input shaft with Goerend proprietary oiling modifications. -Goerend billet strut, anchor, and lever for the front band. -Goerend valve body with GM governor pressure solenoid. -Goerend billet triple disk 17 blade torque converter. -Goerend billet flexplate. The original valve body and torque converter cores were sent to Goerend Transmission to be used so that the same low mileage original cores would be reinstalled. -Heat exchanger was relocated to under the front cross member from the passenger side of the engine to make room for the compound turbos. Custom mount was fabricated and holes were drilled and tapped to the cross member. New mount has rubber isolators and is secured with ARP polished stainless 12 point bolts and stainless t-bolt band clamps. Custom plumbed with Vibrant black silicon hoses for the coolant lines and ProClassic II custom black braided nylon hose was used for the transmission lines. Factory hard line was cut and tube nuts with black AN adapters were used on the ends so that we could use the factory hard line mated to our custom AN hose assemblies to facilitate the relocate on the heat exchanger end up front and the transmission end in the back of the hardline. Looks very, very nice and honors the intent of the factory hardline for routing under the engine and thru the cross member. Nothing out there has been done like this and it is the best relocate I’ve seen for this part. -Mag Hytec double deep transmission pan. -Suncoast flexible transmission dipstick was installed to accommodate the compound turbos. Suspension 7”Skyjacker Long Arm Lift Skyjacker RS9000 adjustable shocks 16.5x12 Weld Racing Super Single Wheels 38x14.50x16.5 Super Swamper Radials Axles -Mag Hytec differential covers. The front breather line in the differential cover was done in ProClassic II black braided hose with black AN hose ends. Miscellaneous -Isspro factory match Fuel Pressure, Boost, and Pyrometer gauges were installed in a paint matched 3 gauge A-Pillar mount. Wired with neatly routed heavier gauge black and red wiring instead of what was provided with the gauges. All wire connections are done with Posi-Lock splices for longevity and better look that crimp style splices. Wires have been zip tied, loomed and taped with Super 88 electrical tape where appropriate. Fuel pressure isolator mounted to the factory lift pump mount with insulated clamp and plumbed with Proclassic II -4 custom black braided nylon hose with black AN hose ends in lieu of the rubber line they provided for a much nicer look. -Fuel return system on the back of the cylinder head was modified with custom ProClassic II -6 black braided hose assemblies with black AN hose ends to accommodate the new sheet metal intake on the cylinder head. Again, like the transmission lines, we utilized the factory hardlines and bracketry to blend custom parts to factory pieces in a very tasteful way. -All oil feed lines and wastegate boost lines were done in ProClassic black braided hose with black AN hose ends. Fleece secondary turbo oil drain fitting and block drain fitting with our custom black braided AN hose assembly. Primary turbo oil drain off of the Source Automotive mount was done with a black silicon hose in lieu of their provided blue hose. -ARP polished stainless steel 12 point bolts were used in lieu of factory pieces where applicable including intake plate cover, apps bracket and steel apps assembly to the apps bracket, heat exchanger custom mount, all turbine and compressor housing bolts and wastegate cover and bracket on the S362 secondary turbo, alternator mounts, cast heater hose neck, timing cover, fan mount, etc. -Mirror Finish Polishing polished the aluminum of the S362 compressor and compressor outlet, intake plate, apps bracket, Banks intake horn, Banks grid heater delete, and raised letters of the valve cover. -Trail Perfomance Coatings prepped and applied silver vein powder coated to match the compound turbo piping to the alternator bracket, block mounted alternator bracket, engine hoist ring, thermostat housing neck, and Banks intercooler to intake horn pipe. -New black top Interstate batteries to match the engine compartment. -Driveshafts were painted matte black. The truck drives very nice. It’s powerful, yet very friendly to drive and very docile just to cruise in. I took it for a 60 mile run on the highway and through town and it works the way it should and it is just perfect. The truck has enough air (turbo) to support 800 to 1000 horsepower. With the VP fuel injection pump these trucks come with, it is probably good for 600 horsepower to the tires if you were trying to wring out the most power on a dyno. Probably has a good 500 horsepower to the tires right now. Overall a ton of effort was put into making it just right and doing things exactly correct. This is genuinely street rod type of quality on a Cummins build and I don’t think there is a nicer one anywhere.
