Vehicle Detail
I have for sale a 1941 Chevrolet Special Deluxe 4 door sport sedan. I have owned this car since January of this year and have made many improvements to the car to make it drivable. After discovering the original engine was cracked I replaced it with an updated 235 full pressure engine from a 55 chevy. I drive this car everywhere with my car club to local and non-local shows. Car gets a lot of attention and is fun to drive with lots more power than stock. Here's some information on the car. Interior The interior is all original 1941 which is to say that it could use a good reupholstery job. The front seat has a couple of tears and stains from years of driving. The rear seat doesn't have any tears but does have stains. The original rubber mat is missing and someone has put carpet in the back. The front has no carpet or mat.The headliner is stained and could stand to be replaced if restoration is desired but good enough for a driver. All dash gauges and lights work with the exception of the fuel gauge which stays on full. The wiper motor is vacuum and has been unhooked the entire time i've owned the car so I do not know if it works. Body The body of this car is in excellent shape for the age and has been well taken care of.The car was painted black some time in the 80's from the original Blue two tone paint job.The paint is cracking from age in some spots and could use a repaint if restoration is desired but good enough for a driverThe only rust i've found on the car is the spare tire wheel well in the trunk is rusted through. The drivers side vent window, driver door and rear door glass all have a crack in them however it's flat glass and wouldn't cost much at all to replace. Engine and Transmission The original 216 engine had a crack in the block which made the car overheat while driving so I replaced it with an updated full pressure 235 straight six from a 1955 Chevrolet Bel Air.The new 235 was taken fully apart, clearances checked and reassembled with a high quality new gasket set. Engine shows good oil pressure. When the new engine was installed I used the charging system from the 55 chevy converting the car to 12 volt. Generator charges at 14.25 voltsNew 12 volt battery manufactured Dec 16Brand new front to back fully welded exhaust system installed on car with a single glasspack muffler that is nice and quiet while driving but gives a good rap while outside the car. Transmission is the original 3 speed torque tube transmissionRadiator is either recored or and updated radiator that was put in the car by a previous owner. Cools the new engine as it should. The clutch and pressure plate were replaced by the previous owner however i think the pressure plate is weak and the clutch will slip under heavy load so will need another clutch kit which is around 80 bucks. Wheels, Tires and Brakes The wheels are the original 6 lug 16 inch wheels wrapped in Coker Classic Bias Ply tires that are in good shape. The brakes are still drum style brakes that the previous owner put all new wheel cylinders and shoes inThe car stops great I tried to think of everything about the car. If I missed something feel free to ask me a question about it i'll answer as quickly as I can. This car's reserve is set at a fair price and would make someone a really good driving reliable car.
