Vehicle Detail
Hello, Today I am listing this rare 1948 Oldsmobile Deluxe 2dr Sedan with a straight 8 flathead and automatic transmission. I purchased this earlier this year from a individual that received it from his grandfather in 2012. It has been stored inside since at least the late 1970's and was last driven 8 years ago until I received it. The body on the Olds is in excellent condition with mostly original paint and only rust showing on the front fenders near the doors. Looks 100% rust free on the outside and underneath. Doors, hood and trunk shut great and all window roll down nice and are crack free and original. There is a dent in the rear bumper as you can see so that will need repaired. Most of the chrome and trim is in above average condition and nothing is missing, fender trim piece along with extra are in the trunk. Interior is original as you can see untouched. I could find no rodent damage anywhere and it just has the typical light musty smell from storage. Everything is very nice other than normal wear and damage over the years, Nothing is missing and the trim and dash are excellent! Headliner is original and nice! You could preserve what is here or would be a easy restoration. Mechanically it is excellent! Motor starts well and runs great with full power. The automatic transmission goes right into gear and shifts well. The brakes do work but the master cylinder leaks quickly so that will need rebuilt. Also radiator is calcified and will need serviced motor will run warm but has never overheated. I have driven this car up to 50mph and it is very smooth. Things it needs: It will need brake work they are week and master cylinder leaks out quickly. Radiator serviced or flushed this should get it driving safely right now its only good to load for transport. Radio and clock does not work all other gauges and dash lights seem to work as well as the doom lamp. Headlights work, Right rear taillight out left side works. Charging system works great! Also anything a 70 year old car would need that's not restored! This is a great opportunity to own a well preserved and original 1948 Oldsmobile. You could fix a few things and drive as is or a great base for a restoration. All the parts are here and are in good to excellent condition so no hunting for hard to find parts. There is a lot of upside to this car which easily outweighs the negatives. Please Read! I am selling this car AS IS WHERE IS with NO WARRANTY!There will be no negotiation regarding the final price after auction end. Please understand this is a 70 year old car so expect the unexpected.I can transport for a fee depending on location and distance.I can also assist in loading the vehicle for transport. Payment: I prefer cash but I will accept a cashiers or bank check. Vehicle will remain in my possession until check clears up to 10 business days. Please if you have questions ask! Thanks for viewing my listing! On Jun-29-17 at 18:27:45 PDT, seller added the following information: Some more important points I forgot to put in description. I installed brand new tires all around a cleaned and painted the rims. Rebuilt original fuel pump with a ethonal resistant kit. New custom 00 battery cables and a brand new optima 6 volt battery. Also oil was just change along with oil filter. New muffler buyer will need a tailpipe installed rest of exhaust is solid. It will need the carburetor rebuilt it runs great but stumbles and runs a little rough at times. It does smoke a little when first started but clears out after about a minute of running and runs clean after that probably wear on valve guides common on oldsmobile 8. Also was asked if window roll up and down. They do very smoothly as well as all the latches. If I was going to give it one negative it would be the drives side fender it does have dings and rust. Again this is a really great car I want to be sure potential buyers have full confidence and information before bidding. Thanks again! On Jun-30-17 at 12:01:39 PDT, seller added the following information: On Jun-30-17 at 20:58:28 PDT, seller added the following information: I have had many questions about rust.
