1981 VW Rabbit pickup truck. Just finished full restoration. Not full of Bondo every piece in need of repair was replaced with 1/4" thick sheet metal and welded into place by a certified welder. Over 200 hours of time invested on the welding of this truck alone. Floor pans were replaced with 1/4" thick steel. Air conditioned truck with working AC. Truck is a 1981 model On Jun-19-17 at 06:53:34 PDT, seller added the following information: Attracted by the 50 mpg fuel economy I had this truck put together out of a few other trucks that I had in the salvage yard that I operate. After a few years of sitting in the yard the body had deteriorated pretty badly. Fortunately I have a certified welder on my payroll so I put him to work on this project. Over the course of about 2 months my Welder had over 200 hours invested in this project. There is zero rust in this truck. Everything that was rusted was replaced with new sheet metal. There is some spot putty covering some of the welds however unlike most restored vehicles this truck was not just filled with fiberglass. The engine was purchased from Westport Automotive in Louisville Ky it had a top end rebuild in the previous 40,000 miles. It is not originally a diesel from a rabbit pickup but out of an early 90's Jetta. I have dealer plates and Insurance so the new owner will have to get insurance and tags prior to driving home or plan on trailering home as I can't allow my plates to go on a vehicle not driven by a member of my staff that is listed on my insurance policy. After rebuilding this truck and driving it over the course of a few weeks I unfortunately realized that the VW Rabbit pickup trucks do not have enough power to suit my needs. I am also a large guy that doesn't fit comfortably behind the steering wheel. PayPal deposit is non-refundable as eBay charges me a few to sell.
