Vehicle Detail
1968 Mercury Montego MX Convertible(One of 3,238 convertibles built in 1968)Light metallic green with black vinyl interior - REBUILT original 302 engine with 4-barrel carburetor- REBUILT original automatic transmission(Approximately 13,000 miles on engine and trans since rebuild) - Air conditioning- Power steering- Power brakes- Power windows- Power bench seat - 100% complete.- Starts up and runs great.- Body and floor are solid.- Some rust and body damage in both quarter panels (see photos), but no rot.- Power windows work, but rear quarter windows are intermittent.- Convertible top mechanism works, but there is a rivet that broke on one of the passenger-side hinges in the mechanism, which causes the top to get crooked in the middle of raising and lowering.- Vinyl seats have cracked due to age.- Air conditioning compressor removed and placed in the trunk.- Outer headlight bezels are in the trunk.- The joystick on the power seat switch is broken, but the switch works.- The trunk lift spring is broken I live in Portland and am selling the car for my family in New Jersey. We had a neighbor who is a mechanic check the car out for us. He drove it around and reported what he found. The car is roadworthy. There are no leaks. The brakes work and the car stops fine, but they are spongy so should be flushed for best performance. The suspension and steering are tight. All the lights, horn, wipers and windshield washer work. The car has heat but the blower motor isn't working, possibly a blown fuse. The driver's side window won't roll down and the passenger side window won't roll up. When this was my car twenty years ago, the connections to the power window switches were always touchy and required reseating to the connectors periodically.
