Vehicle Detail
Offered for sale is this unrestored 1966 Honda 305 Superhawk. This machine has only 1,145 original miles on it, and was in storage for almost 45 years before I got it. It still has the original Bridgestone tires on it (not dried out and cracked either)! This bike spent almost its entire life in NJ, and was put into the back of a garage in the late 1960s. If you look closely at the handlebars you'll see the original home made front license plate brackets still bolted to the handlebar risers. A front license plate was required in NJ up until about 1970, when they went to a single rear plate. These Superhawks have developed a real cult following, but for as many hundreds of thousands that were made, it's really difficult to find a decent example that has not had a spray can restoration at some point. As a bike collector I know that you will get a great deal of pleasure having a bike that is so unmolested and original. The engine turns over just fine, but it is not currently running. It still has the original battery in the tray, but it has long since dried out, so it would be the perfect shell to install a new battery and keep the original appearances outside. Preservation is very popular right now, and with this bike all you would need to do is some very selective upgrading of a few of the chrome parts and a good cleaning of the rest, and you'd really have something. And the red color is really a plus. The bike comes with the original factory owners manual, parts manual and service manual. There is no tool kit, but the tool box is filled with about a dozen NOS Honda parts to rebuild the petcock and to install the rear fender mud flap. A clear matching number title in my name is included with the bike. The original seat cover has no rips and is still soft. The seat pan has no rust and is in mint condition. The original Honda stamped mirrors are both still present. Please ask all questions before you bid, and have your finances lined up too. Payment is expected within 7 days of auction end. Pickup/shipment should be completed within 30 days of auction end. Cash, check or bank transfer is accepted for payment. Sorry no Paypal unless it's done with the Friends & Family option, so no fees on either end if coming from a Paypal balance or a bank account. The bike does not ship before payment is cleared - no exceptions. Overseas sales are welcome, but I can not help with any shipping estimates. Good luck! P.S. Don't be offended if I decline your offer. Making counter offers locks up the auction for up to 48 hours, so I can't add photos or other info until that time passes. But if we are close I may counter. Best, jl.
