I have a 1981 VW Rabbit Pickup Truck that just underwent a complete restoration. This was going to be my dream truck however my first baby is on the way and priorities have changed so I had to finish and sell my truck to pay for other things. While the restoration is not 100% perfect it is sure to please the majority and be a real head turner. The Engine: Engine is a 1.6 Liter diesel engine that came out of another VW rabbit pickup truck that was owned by the owner of a local VW repair shop in Louisville KY. This was his daily driver until he was hit and his truck destroyed. Engine has less than 5,000 miles since his rebuild. As this was his daily driver I am certain that he took the time to do it right as he is one of only two shops in the Louisville area that specialize in VW’s. The body: The body of the truck came out of a local VW salvage yard it had been sitting for a few years with a blown headgasket. The interior was shot and the floor pans needed some work. Floor pans were repaired with new metal being welded into place. A new drivers front fender installed. The truck was then stripped, sanded to bare metal, primed and painted, a couple small 1/8” - ¼” deep dime sized dings were missed during the restoration process but are not easily noticeable. The paint is Pure White and I have a little left from the painting process to give to the buyer in the event future touch ups are needed due to driving conditions. The Interior: None of the Interior of this truck is original. The dash was cracked when I purchased it, missing door panels, headliner gone etc. The interior of the truck was out of a 1981 VW rabbit 4 door. There are no noticeable cracks in the dash this was very hard to find. Door cards have been replaced. New Carpet and Headliner. Excellent condition seats without any rips, cigarette burns or tears in them. I could have not been more satisfied with how the interior turned out. Some new parts include: Battery, Brake Master Cylinder, exhaust hangers, all new fuel lines, fuel filter, rebuilt radiator, 0 miles since oil change, drivers front fender, carpet, headliner, shifter bushings and the list goes on and on. Other Notes: Truck has roll in bedliner came out looking great hardened up and should last as long as the truck. This truck is a non Air conditioned model however I will include every component required to convert this to an air-conditioned model as I have everything already gathered up for this conversion.
