Vehicle Detail
Offered for sale is this original paint unrestored 1968 BMW R60US. It's getting more and more difficult to find these old bikes where they have not been restored 30 years ago. The old black paint on this bike still has a nice shine to it as well. This is a matching engine, frame, frame ID tag serial number bike, with a clear matching number title included. The bike is not currently running, but it kicks over just fine. I pulled the spark plug wire off and stuck a spare spark plug on there and it had a nice spark when I kicked it over, so I would not be surprised that a weekends worth of work rebuilding the carbs and replacing a few rubber parts would not bring it back to life. I got this bike in a package along with an R69US, but I'm going to let this one go to pay for a Harley that I bought last weekend. Yeah I know - sometimes I forget my meds.... The US fork bikes are some of the lowest production models that BMW made. Between 1968 and 1969 only 1,879 R60US machines were built. And this particular machine is a very early example and still features the sidecar mounting brackets, which were removed on later 1968 and all-1969 US fork bikes. The bike includes an original Denfeld solo seat and factory fender-top luggage rack. Also included (but not shown) are a pair of Hella bar end turn signals that came along with the bike, but were in a box. The inside of the gas tank is nice and clean with the original factory red coat. The only known issue with the bike is that the key is broken off in the toolbox lock, and the lock is stuck in the open position. So the lock and door will need to be repaired/replaced during restoration. Please ask all questions before bidding, and have your finances lined up too. Payment in full is expected within one week of auction end, and the bike must be picked up/shipped within one month of auction end. Bids are welcome, but don't be upset if I decline your bid rather than make a counter offer. Counter offers lock the auction from changes until they expire in 48 hours, so for that reason I avoid using that tool unless we are very close to an acceptable price. Overseas bids are welcome, but I can not help with any shipping estimates. Good luck!
