Vehicle Detail

I bought this Toyota MR-2 Spyder new in June, 2002. It has been my primary car for all these years serving as a daily driver and cross country cruiser covering 265K miles over the past nearly 15 years. Always regular maintenance and always dependable. QS or Pennzoil for the first 8 years, Royal Purple synthetic since. I added a front tower brace and lower suspension braces over the years but the one which really made it feel stiffer was the belly/tunnel brace. A similar tunnel brace became standard on the 2003 model. In 2009, at 132K miles, , after a nice bonus at work, I bought a new 6-speed transmission (with LSD) from MonkeyWrenchRacing and had it installed by the local Toyota dealer. These 6-speed transmissions were offered in other countries but not in the USA. I didn't care about the limited slip so much as the 5th and 6th gears being overdrive and reducing the RPM's at highway speeds on my many cross country trips. I also did NOT opt for a new clutch at the time. I was sure that the way I drove my Toyota would allow me to drive the original clutch for the life of the car and I just wanted to prove it to myself. So far I was right and I hoped to run this car for 500K miles and then some.... Well, about two weeks ago now, a 45MPH curve and a slick spot and my resultant backward movement was terminated by a tree. Definitely an "au krappe" moment! I picked up the mirror and taillight and drove about 20 feet but couldn't get out of the ditch. A good Samaritan with a tow rope pulled me out and I drove home. The barbed wire fence got the mirror, the right side of the top, antenna, and some paint scratches. The R rear fender looks like a large dent behind the wheel in the photo but it is actually a mild bend over the wheel. The bumper and cover obviously absorbed most to the impact but allowed damage to the muffler and rear sway bar. The frame to which the bumper was attached is bent at the last 2-3 inches on the L and about 7 inches, just ahead of the sway bar mount on the R. The suspension attachments and engine and transmission appear unaffected. I have the original front trunk and tire cover that I removed to install the tower brace. Here is a walk around and drive thru the neighborhood video from a couple of days ago. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TuwNOaZoif0 Except for my misjudged curve, this is a used but not abused, repairable car. Electricals all work; wipers, radio, mirrors, lights etc. I did a compression test which you can see in the last photo. If I were 10 years younger I'd get it done, but these days I'm working on my bucket list. This might be a good candidate for a track car, or to complete a good car from one with front end damage. Finally a good body shop with access to parts could handle this I'm sure. I hope it finds a good home or at least keeps another on the road. The title is clear as I only carry liability. The many good miles and years more than covers the cost. I will hold the car for 2 weeks after Paypal payment for the buyer to arrange shipment and will cooperate fully with your shipper. On Mar-06-17 at 05:21:52 PST, seller added the following information: Have records of transmission from MWR and Toyota install, window sticker, tires and maintenance. Also have all the damaged pieces even though not included in the photos.
