My name is Joe and I sell vehicles differently than most dealers. Buying your next car or truck through one of my NO RESERVE auctions is the best way to take the games out of your next automotive purchase. I personally road test each vehicle before it is offered for sale so I can give you my first hand opinion of how it runs and drives. Please keep in mind that I am not a mechanic. Each vehicle is represented accurately and honestly to the best of my knowledge and ability. Please take the time to read this entire description as well as our Terms & Conditions carefully BEFORE asking questions or placing a bid as most answers can be found in at least one of those places. An administrative fee of $149 will be added to the final bid of each auction. Up for a NO RESERVE auction is a 2002 Mercedes-Benz CLK 430 Cabriolet with just 117k original miles. I would rate the exterior of this CLK to be in AVERAGE CONDITION for it's age and mileage. As you can see, this is a gorgeous cabriolet. It is finished in Capri Blue with Oyster gray interior, which looks great. The dark blue finish has a mile deep shine and looks as smooth as glass. As with any older vehicle, please expect a few flaws and imperfections commensurate with age and mileage. The only thing worth pointing out on this Mercedes is that there are a few flaws on the top of the rear bumper, just under where the trunk closes. It's nothing big, but I wanted to mention it in case you can't see it in the photos. The body lines are nice and straight. The hood, doors and trunk all open and close easily. Being the V8, this CLK 430 has factory sport trim (front facia, sideskirts and rear facia). This, along with the staggered AMG alloy wheels, give this cabriolet a very aggressive look. The soft top looks to be in great condition inside and out, with no visible wear to mention. All of the glass and lenses are intact. The staggered AMG alloy wheels show well and are wrapped in a nice set of rubber with good tread all around. Please take your time and check out each of the 70+ pictures carefully to see how clean this Merc looks. I would rate the interior of this CLK 430 to be in AVERAGE CONDITION for it's age and mileage. The oyster gray interior looks great against the dark blue exterior. The door cards are clean and tight. The dash and headliner are clean, too. The carpets show well for their age throughout the interior. The burl wood trim also shows well for it's age. Both front seats are power operated and heated. The power windows, locks, seats and mirrors all work properly. The convertible top does not go down, for some reason. I'm pretty sure I'm doing everything right, but I will admit that I am not overly familiar with these cars. I am more familiar with the SL class. When you press the button, the windows lower but the top does nothing. If these are anything like the SL's, top operation is contingent on several other sensors. If one of these sensors is not reading properly, it will not allow the top to start...which is what is happening here. If it started but didn't finish...or I could hear it working but nothing was happening...I'd be worried. The fact that it won't start, leads me to believe it is just a sensor...which is good. I just don't have that level of diagnostic equipment to go beyond my personal experience. I had an SL once that the top wouldn't go down because one of the window timers was off (yes, the windows have timers). The climate control system is fully automatic and appears to be working properly. It's a little too cold to know if the air conditioner is working effectively...but I suspect all of the important parts work because the compressor is coming on when it should. I can tell you first hand that the heater works very well. This CLK 430 has the original CD audio system with integrated factory GPS navigation system, which is hard to find in these. There are steering wheel audio controls, too. The sound system sounds great. These are great driving cars that feel very smooth and confident on the road. The seats are very comfortable and supportive. As is the case with pretty much every older CLK ever, there is a little separation at the upper bolster stitching. The only other bad thing I can say about the interior is that the cup holder is broken, which is also common...and not the worst thing. I never liked those cup holders, if I'm being honest. I'd actually prefer to just put my drink in the hole where the stupid cup holder was than use the actual cup holder. If you've ever owned one of these, or a C-Class from the mid 2000's, you'll understand. The trunk is spacious for a cabriolet. There is a hard shelf that keeps you from putting luggage in that is too tall for the top to lower. Again, please take your time and check out each of the photos carefully. Mechanically, this CLK 430 appears to be in good running and driving condition. The 4.3L V8 starts easily and runs smoothly. I didn't notice any leaks and the engine does not smoke. As with most 430's, it's a little noisy...but nothing more than usual. I've personally put the last 100+ miles on this CLK with no issues. Her road manners are good. The suspension feels tight and well sorted. Steering and braking are good, too. The engine keeps perfect temperature and runs smoothly. There have been no idiot lights on. She makes good power and is an absolute pleasure to drive. The automatic transmission engages smoothly and shifts properly with no issues. I cannot go on enough about how good these are to drive. There is always plenty of power on demand and they feel rock solid driving down the road. Out on the highway, she drives nice and straight with absolutely no complaints. Vehicles left longer than 14 days without prior written permission may be assessed a storage fee of $10/ day. Storage fees will be deducted first from any monies paid to Liberty Auto Exchange. Non-Paying Bidders: We take what we do very seriously and ask that potential bidders take placing their bid just as seriously. Non-Paying Bidders will be assessed a re-listing fee of $249. This fee is considered due and payable, without demand, to Liberty Auto Exchange on the 8th day from the end of the auction. Non-Paying Bidders will be reported to eBay, blocked from bidding on future auctions and may be referred to our Collection Agency for credit reporting and fee recovery. Fees and Taxes The only fee we charge is the $149 Administrative Fee that is also disclosed in the first sentence of the written description. Because we sell with NO RESERVE, we have no way to control how much (if any) money we make per vehicle. This fee helps us isolate a few of our fixed, per transaction expenses in a way that is fair to everyone. The winning bidder is responsible for paying all required fees to their respective state of origin.
