Vehicle Detail

1972 Chevelle Malibu SS 4 Speed Manual 350cu Up for auction is a 1972 Chevelle Malibu SS packaged 4 speed 350ci manual numbers matching car. I’m selling this car for a friend. This was her late husband’s pride and joy and she says it’s time for someone else to enjoy it as much as he did. This car was always garaged and only has 35, 323 miles showing on the odometer. The car was driven very little from 2000 – 2007 and after his passing in 2007 the car was occasionally started and driven from 2007 until present. Starts, runs and drives nicely. It is a numbers matching car. The vin is: 1D37J2B541456. To break down this vin we see the 1st digit being a 1 = Chevrolet, 2nd digit being a D = Malibu, 3rd and 4th digit is a 37 = 2 door sport coupe, 5 digit is a J = 350cid V8 4bbl L48, 6th digit is a 2 = 1972, 7th digit is a B = Baltimore Maryland. The 8th-13th digits are the sequential production number = 541456. The vin matches the number found stamped on the engine block making it a numbers matching car. The CKK suffix stamped on the engine block indicates it’s a 350cu 4bbl carb manual transmission 4 speed, which it is. Doing research to find out if this is truly a real deal Super Sport you will find that in 1972 the only way to be sure is to have paper work like the window sticker, protect-o-plate, or a build sheet. None of which is present on this car, though we never looked if the build sheet is under the back seat of the car as they were commonly put there. We’ve learned a lot while investigating and it looks like it could have been ordered with the SS package, but without proof we cannot be 100% sure. Overall the car is in very nice condition. The paint shines beautifully and could even be taken to a next level with some good cleaning and waxing. The chrome is very nice. The frame looks in good solid condition. At some point it was undercoated. There is a chip in the nose of the car and some scraping on the edge of the hood that looks worse in the pictures than what it really is. Nice rally wheels and tires. The interior is very nice. The passenger side bucket seat has a rip in each seam of the cushion. On the passenger side the rain gutter has a bubble or scrape about an inch long inside the gutter. We believe the ignition points have been replaced with electronic ignition. Please view all the pictures and please ask any questions you may have. We tried to explain the car as much as we can. It is advisable that you come and inspect the car before you bid and if you can’t please ask any and all questions. Please ask any and all questions. Full payment no later than 7 days from auction end. Thanks and good luck!
