NO RESERVE AUCTION! HIGH BIDDER WINS IT!!1977 OLDSMOBILE CUTLASS 442 Restoration Project. I found this car sitting where it had been parked since 2007 I was immediately drawn to the factory Black / Gold color combo, it has that traditional Hurst Olds Look. Most of the 77 442 cars came in ugly colors like red with red interior, pale yellow, pale green (hey it was the 70's) to me this color combo outshines the rest and gives it more of a muscle car look. These cars were used by all the big names in Nascar in 1977, both Dale Earnhardt SR and Richard Petty drove one due to the Aerodynamic nose. Even Dale Jr owns one it happens to be the same color combo as this one! The person I bought it from (he owned it 15 years) told me he bought it from the original owner, who bought it new in Lexington NC. It has been an NC car all its life which helps it because we do not use road salt like the Northern states. But it still has rust because of GM's thin sheet metal and drainage issues of the 1970's (remember the chevy VEGA?). The worst part of the car is the bottoms of the doors. They are badly rotted like most of them from 1977. They may be fixable by an expert bodyman but your best bet is to look for a pair of cleaner doors. The rest of the body is not too bad, the paint has been sun baked on the horizontal surfaces due to the HOT southern climate. The floors have some pinholing and small holes but are overall solid and easily fixed. Same goes for the trunk. The interior is still in real nice shape as you will see in the photos. After buying it I pulled the plugs and soaked the cylinders (it was NOT siezed, you should never start an engine dry after sitting) It started right up and ran great, I then started to replace some of the obvious things that needed replacing This car has the following NEW items installedNEW BATTERYNEW SPARK PLUGSNEW CAP & ROTORNEW IGNITION WIRESNEW THERMOSTATNEW UPPER RADIATOR HOSENEW LOWER RADIATOR HOSENEW ANTI-FREEZENEW BYPASS HOSENEW PCV VALVENEW MASTER CYLINDERNEW FRONT BRAKE CALIPERSNEW FRONT BRAKE ROTORSNEW FRONT BRAKE RUBBER HOSESNEW BEARINGS, RACES & DUST CAPSNEW REAR DRUMSNEW REAR WHEEL CYLINDERSNEW REAR BRAKE HARDWARE & SPRINGSNEW GAS TANKNEW TANK SENDING UNITNEW FUEL FILTERNEW AIR FILTERNEW REAREND FLUID, COVER & GASKETNEW G-FORCE DUAL HUMP (FOR ADDING TRUE DUAL EXHAUST) CROSSMEMBERNEW true DUAL EXHAUST FROM FRONT TO REARNEW FLOWMASTER MUFFLERSNEW STEERING WHEELNEW IGNITION SWITCHFRESH OIL CHANGE & FILTERThe car runs and drives good for its age, the engine is tight with no knocking or valve noise. It still needs some more attention but you can drive it while you restore it. It shows 97,000 miles which I am told is original and I believe it, I also have a bunch of original doccumentation in the glove compartment. I HAVE A CLEAR NC TITLE IN MY NAME This is a great deal for cheap money, you can see how much I have already spent on it and you cant get many muscecars that run and drive for this price. But remember this is a RESTORATION PROJECT not a Barret Jackson restored showcar.
