Vehicle Detail
1969 Pontiac Firebird. Needs Restoration. 99% RUST FREE!! Southern Car. Always garaged for 27 years. Hasn't left the garage in 20+ years. A rod started knocking in the motor around 1990 and was rarely driven after that. 8 years ago the motor was sent off to be rebuilt. Even though the car was garaged, it was neglected and often had things placed on it and got normal bumps and scrapes from foot traffic. The car was originally White. It was repainted when first acquired 30 years ago roughly. It will need to be repainted again to be perfect but currently not terrible for a 1969 car repainted in the mid 80s. In the late 80s my father back into another vehicle leaving a grocery store parking lot and slightly damaged the right rear quarter panel. It was "professionally" repaired by a local body shop but they were never able to match the color. You can see the difference in the trunk lid and rear qtr. picture. I always wanted to go back original White. You can still see some of the original color on the sides of the firewall with the fenders removed. It has the original Red Interior but 85% of it needs replaced. The dashboard however is in good condition with most the woodgrain trim still intact. Door panels and some interior trim is restorable probably. The convertible top is worn and the convertible frame will need adjusting and new cover material to be weather worthy. The engine is a rebuilt Pontiac 350, it is not numbers matching. It is period correct. I believe the engine originally came out of a LeMans. The motor was FINALLY completely rebuilt about 5 years ago and was stored in the garage with car until recently. It is installed in the car but has never been cranked. There is a aftermarket Edelbrock Performer intake NEW and installed specifically made for the Pontiac 350. I also have and Edelbrock Carburetor Used but in great condition that goes with the vehicle. The engine was fastened together with an entire ARP polished engine bolt kit. It has a Turbo 350 transmission I believe to be period correct, it hasn't been rebuilt lately but was shifting before motor was pulled to be rebuilt. The torque converter is New along with the front transmission seal. The engine and transmission are currently in the car and bolted down by the main motor mounts and transmission mount. No other connections have been made since the install. The front frame was removed and cleaned the best I could with a soft bristle wire wheel just to remove light surface rust on the outer part of the frame. It was then painted with a semi-black frame paint to seal it up. It was installed under the car with all NEW Energy Suspension frame bushings and grade 8 zinc coated hardware. The Upper and Lower A-arms were sand blasted and painted with the same semi-black frame paint. All NEW Energy Suspension bushings were installed into Original Upper & Lower A-arms. All original hardware was used to install Upper A-arms and NEW Grade8 zinc coated hardware was installed for the Lower A-arms. NEW Moog ball-joints were installed on the Upper and Lower A-arms. Original springs were lightly blasted and painted also. No shocks are currently installed up front. I never purchased new inner and outer tie-rods so the steering is not hooked up. I still have the original parts but theyre very worn as you can imagine and are not worth reinstalling. But you can have them. To be road worthy the rearend still needs to be freshened up but I have all the Energy Suspension bushings for the rear still new in the box, they will come with the vehicle when purchased. I have all chrome trim for headlights, grill, foglights. Currently not installed but they need to be polished up. I have all grill pieces and main bezel also. The engine/headlight wiring harness is out of engine bay but I do have it, its old and I wanted to wrap it in new wire loom before installing. I also have original points distributor and all the original accessories for the motor although most of it needs to be cleaned up/restored. The only option this car came with was power steering. There was never a A/C unit on the vehicle. This car has all GOOD GLASS and is all original to the best of my knowledge. It has 99.9% of all chrome trim. I have original radiator support and inner fender wells, not pictured. Ebay will not let me upload anymore pictures. I am willing to email additional pictures at the request of interested parties.
