I think that anyone would be very hard pressed to find a cleaner, more bulletproof, proven and capable vehicle for the price. Late in 2015 I brought this Jeep East from southern Washington State, where it was purchased new. It was the cleanest, most original and well taken care of XJ that I could find. It had clearly never seen road salt or corrosive elements and was carefully owned by a tool-and-die maker for Boeing. Over the course of my ownership I have put roughly 15k miles on it and have addressed every maintenance need in the pursuit of a perfect, turn-key Jeep that could go anywhere safely and reliably. It runs, drives and performs like a new vehicle. These are great SUVs: a bulletproof engine/transmission/transfer case, two solid axles, lightweight bodies with cool styling and good visibility, etc. They don't make 'em like they used to! What makes this XJ special is how spotless it is inside, outside and underneath. Inside the interior is practically flawless. Every switch feels tight and new, the AC is new, blows cold and is under Chrysler warranty, the seats look perfect, etc. Outside, the original paint and moldings look incredible. The body is arrow straight with no dings or dents. I can't imagine it looked much different when it was on the dealer lot back in '99. Lastly, underneath; the rockers, hem flanges on the bottoms of the doors, door jambs, suspension, frame rails, wheel openings, etc. look practically new. The first thing I did after buying it was apply a thin coat of oil inside the body and underneath to protect and preserve what was there: a 100% rust-free, clean Jeep. I specifically wanted a 1999 XJ because that year offered the best combination of new and proven parts. ’99s had the advantage of a refreshed body that included a steel hatch plus an updated, safer interior with dual airbags. Engines were built with a new HO aluminum intake manifold yet retained the proven, crack-free #0630 cylinder head, high-flow tubular exhaust manifold and the bulletproof distributor design. They had the highest HP/TQ ratings of any year Cherokee. Additionally, the rear axles were upgraded to a 29-spline design for increased strength and the front axle was an off-road friendly, high-pinion Dana 30. Both ends received Heavy Duty U-joints. I have no doubt that this Jeep is ready for another 100k+ miles. Please message me with any questions, I'll be happy to provide a timely response. Thanks, Bob
