Vehicle Detail

I acquired this M-38 in civilianized, abused, and worn-out condition. I have rebuilt all systems, including steering box and joints, radiator, transmission and transfer, clutch, axles and bearings, brakes (silicone), new wiring harness, correct 24V generator and starter, all body work. Body was not removed. Refinished pioneer tools are installed. Five new repro-Firestone NDCC tires. Recently installed restored original windshield with complex vacuum wipers and plumbing (not connected). No rust holes. All surface rust treated and coated. Seats are Herculon (waterproof and super-tough) No top or rear seat purchased. I reinforced wheel wells for sitting. Vehicle painted with best Gillespie 24087 enamel. Bed, frame, and underbody protected with special O.D. rubber coating. I installed a civilian fuel pump because the original military is huge, very expensive, troublesome, and difficult to service. L & R taillights are identical, wired in parallel, doubling rear night visibility. Drives well 200 miles in 15 years. Many spare parts and tools. Restoration 2002-4. Includes nice 1951 gas can Fuel tank completely cleaned and restored, coated with urethane. Instruments all work. Clear Florida title. Somebody rebuilt the engine before me, but I have had it apart twice for various troubles and errors. The vehicle is marked for my assignment at Ft. Sill (1965). Many other details when you see it. Problem areas: Rubber horn button lost Pedal bushings worn...need shimming I forgot to install transfer shifter anti-rattle springs (provided) Wiper vacuum not connected but wipers never used Some leak or fault in brakes, probably due to sitting idle long periods Ethanol has caused one intake valve to stick slightly open, making engine run badly. Carburetor accelerator pump not perfect (slight stumble) Paint fell off front bumper
