I had few extra days so instead of flying I decided to take a drive back. Purchased this X5 and drove it from SFO area to Atlanta, about 2650 miles. From there the car was transported on a trailer to upstate NY.As far as the trip the car performed flawlessly. I made the trip in about 2.5 days, average speed was 65 mph and it did around 19mpg including climbing over the mountains (highest point was just over 8000ft and let's just say Nevada and Wyoming went by really fast:) It drives very nice, feels like a car, not an SUV. I have a Suburban also and this X5 is much more enjoyable to drive. Everything works.
