This 1 ton truck has an excellent running 454/7400 vortec engine. It does not smoke, tick or knock. It runs very smooth, and has plenty of power. The transmission has started slipping out of 2nd gear, and would need to be repaired or replaced before I would consider the truck roadworthy. There is a lot of rust on the truck. Both rocker panels, cab corners, bed sides have rotted out as seen in the pictures. The rear bumper has rotted out as well. The rear tailgate is missing from the truck. My intent was to have the bed replaced, and have new cab corners and rockers welded in. However with the transmission now needing work, I do not want to invest the time and money into the truck since I really dont have much use for it any more. Some positives of the truck are that the interior is very clean and has all power options (windows, door locks, etc). Last summer I had all brand new metal brake lines, and hoses installed on the truck. At that same time the front wheel bearings, calipers, rotors and brake pads were replaced. All 4 tires were replaced and have less than 2000 miles on them. The 7.4 liter Vortec engine runs excellent, and as stated before, the truck does not smoke, tick or knock. Currently the truck has 106,000 miles on it. The 4x4 works perfectly. Once the transmission is fixed, this would be an incredible work truck for a contractor, tow vehicle and/or even a plow truck in the winter since it has all of the heavy duty options (dual batteries, heavier leaf springs, tranny cooler, oil cooler, 4:10 rear end).
