1974 Suzuki GT380 triple two-strokeFully Restored and some!NO RESERVE!!! Hello. Here is the HISTORY:Up for grabs is this beautiful 1974 Suzuki GT 380. This was one of my uncles first bikes when he was young. He traded it to my older brother for one of his bikes 30 plus years ago and it got shoved in our barn and there it sat and sat and sat. 30 plus long years it sat in our barn covered in the corner. Finally Dad was cleaning out the barn and said we needed to do something with it. So I took it home. I wanted to restore it for my uncle as a surprise. And I did just that. I had a professional bike builder restore it and give it a touch of modernization. This bike sells without restoration and without it running anywhere from $1500 to $2000. I had put more than $1500 in new parts on the bike plus over $3500 in labor to get it to its' amazing condition now. I did not plan on spending so much but once I hit my limit half way through, I was at a cross roads. Do you quit and put it back in the barn or keep going to have it done right. So I opted to keep going and have it done right. I am sure glad I did. I may never get the money back out of it but it was worth it to me to see my uncles face when he got reunited with it after 30 plus years. I planned on keeping it forever but I lost my job a year ago and just got re-employed recently. Now I am trying to pay off all the debt that accumulated over that last year. So I hope this goes to a great home that is willing to take care of it and keep it clean, at the same time not afraid to ride it. Why buy a old bike and spend hours of frustrating time and money trying to figure it out and get it going and hours of detailing, when this one has had everything already done and meticulously cleaned. It is a show stopper. I get asked about it all the time. I have put over a 1000 miles on it since restoration and it runs out great. This is truly one of the nicest GT's you will ever find. Here is the CONDITION:This bike is almost brand NEW. I give it a 9.9 out 10. So much has been done to this. Where does one start. First, It was a frame off restoration. Which means every nut and bolt was removed cleaned or replaced and then put back on. The frame was repainted. Foot pegs, kick stand, center stand, hub of front rotor, front brake caliper and seat pan all repainted. The tank and side covers were also repainted (two-stage paint/ base coat and a clear coat) the tank and side covers were all wet sanded and buffed to a mirror shine. The engine was sanded and polished. The heads were sanded, painted black and then the outer fin edges were re-sanded. All chrome was cleaned and polished to it bring back as close to perfect as possible with out having them all re-chromed. The gauges were cleaned and new glass installed over the faded plastic ones. The whole wire harness was gone through and detailed. All leads cleaned. Everything was cleaned and or replaced back to new. The carbs were rebuilt and re-calibrated. The front brake caliper was rebuilt. The motor was rebuilt with new pistons and rings and seals and gaskets and cage bearings. The seat was recovered. The forks were rebuilt. The gas tank pet cock was rebuilt. Here is the NEW stuff added and done:New handle bars, new handlebar grips, new mirrors, new air filter pods, new front fender, new rebuild kit for front brake caliper, new front and rear tires, new front and rear tubes, new front stainless steel brake line, new front brake and clutch levers, new front brake reservoir, new blinkers front and back, new chain, new rear L.E.D. taillight, new seat cover, new battery, new pistons, new rings, new gaskets, new seals, new carb kits, new hoses, new points, new dust seals, new fork seals, new tank straps, new tank cushion, new tool kit strap, new pet cock rebuild kit, new decals, new rim pin stripes, new stainless steel bolts and screws. I am sure I am missing a few new items but you get the picture. Here are the neat MODIFICATIONS:I wanted this to be a restore but also with a modern touch. I wanted people to look at it and wonder what year it was and if it was a new bike or a restored bike. So I had the big fat blinkers replaced with sleeker smaller ones. I had the rear bulky taillight removed and a LED one added. Had the license plate bracket removed and now just mount the plate over the old taillight holes from the old bracket. I had the emblems removed and replaced with decals. I wanted a brighter red than what the old emblems had. I had the front fender replaced with a chrome Harley fender to give the front end a cleaner and lighter look over the bulky old one. I had the engine polished to make it pop. I had a different front brake reservoir installed with a stainless steel brake line for improved stopping power and dependability. And I had different grips and handlebars put on for a sportier look. I also went with a sport bike tire over the conventional pattern these came with for a better ride and cornering ability. Here are some FEATURES of the GT380:Oil injection. No need to mix gas for this two stroke. Gear indicator. Lets you know what gear you are in (even though the indicator works some of the lights that tell you what gear it is are out. For example...gear five 5, the top of the five does not light up. And the 6, the bottom left does not light up. It looks like the five. So on the digital "8" the top and lower left two bars don't work. They did last year and I wonder if it is just some of the connections or the indicator.) This bike has a center stand. LED taillights now. And kick start. You never have to worry if you can start your bike if you have a dead battery. This bike starts like a dream. It is very easy to start. It has a Helmet lock and a easy open attached fuel cap. It still has the switch to turn off all headlights and taillights for that "James Bond night get away" ha. Four mufflers for a triple cylinder. This bike is a great runner but keep in mind this is not a top speed racer. I have had it up to 85 and it probably can go to 90 but 60 (give or take 5 MPH) is it's sweet spot for cruising. This is great for in the city and sight seeing but long interstate driving I would leave to another bike (even though this could handle it). It gets around 45 mpg. And uses a quart of two cycle oil every 300ish miles. I have the baffles out of the bike and it sounds pretty good for a two cycle engine. Now for some of the Negatives or Blemishes. The paint on the tank is amazing but it is not perfect. From 12 inches away and farther you would think it was perfect. I did not have the decals clear coated on the tank because I was not sure if I wanted just the S or if I was going to go with the full Suzuki again like it had in the beginning. The side covers I was going to reuse the old emblems but realized the GT was more orange than the red I wanted. So I used decals. Well because I was not thinking about decals the holes for the old emblems are still there and you can see one hole pretty good by the 8 in the GT380. I have a picture included. Also on the oil sight side of the side covers in the upper right corner of the sight it was cracked about an 1/2" before it was painted that did not get fixed so you can see a crack there as well. I took a picture of that as well. The rear rim has some scuffs in it from what looks like someone changing a tire but you can't really see any of it because it is hidden by the red rim pin stripes. The gas cap was put in a cleaner and we did not know it would have a reaction with the cast aluminum around the key so some of that broke off. The cap still works but the trim around the key doesn't look perfect anymore. The exhaust has minor scuffs in them but overall they are a 8 out of 10. I am trying to be over picky so when you get this bike there is no surprises. I have sold over 30 bikes on ebay and every buyer was happy with what they bought and I want you to be as well. I would rather go over board than just say, "Here is a bike. Look at the pics." If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to call or email or text. My cell is 763-503-1717. Here is info on SHIPPING:I prefer local pick up but I can assist with any shipping in the 48 US. I use Forward Air. And cost with crate will be about $350 to $400, depending on location. With Forward Air you will need to go to one of their terminals to pick it up. I might have another transport that can bring it to a business address with a loading dock. Otherwise check with your local carriers. Otherwise I might be able to deliver for a gas fee in a 250/300 mile radius of Minneapolis, MN. In the end I will do the most I can to make the shipping process as easy for you as I can.
