A brief history- In 1941 the Soviet Union acquired the design and production capabilities from BMW for their military R71 motorcycle with sidecar. In 1941 the first Russian copy of the BMW R71 was built by the IMZ-URAL manufacturing company. It was designated a M-72. Around 1954 the Russian Government sold the plans for the R71 / M72 to the Nanchang Aircraft Manufacturing Corporation which is a large Chinese industrial firm. Chinese Production began in 1955 and were produced by the Chang Jiang Motorcycle Company which is a subsidiary of Nanchung. The motorcycle was built for use by the Peoples Republic of China military and the police. We believe that the motorcycle was built in the early sixties by Chang Jiang. However we have no documentation to verify this. It could even be an earlier IMZ-Ural since all of the photos we could find on line show the identical bike for both companies. The bike is 750cc . It runs and drives but will need new tires and seats in the future. The bike has reverse just like the original BMW built R71. The bike comes with its original tool kit and tonneau cover for the side car. It still has its original spare sidecar wheel and tire. Looks as vintage as it should. A great addition for any vintage collection, military reenactments, parades or an amazing centerpiece for any business. Runs and rides. The photos tell more than words can. Additional Photos Warranty All vehicles that leave the State of AZ are excluded from the state required implied warranty. In other words, they are sold 100% AS-IS. If vehicle is kept in AZ, the implied warranty is 15 days / 500 miles, whichever occurs first. This covers a buyer against a major powertrain failure. Nationwide extended warranties may be available, depending on the vehicle. Call or e-mail for details. Shipping Shipping is the sole responsibility of the buyer including costs and coordination.
