My wife has owned and loved this car for more than 10 years. During that period, she had the front end rebuilt and performed all scheduled maintenance. During a thunderstorm this past year, my wife drove into a wide pool of what she thought was shallow water. Once the exhaust pipe submerged, the engine died and she attempted to restart, blowing a hole in the oil pan. We immediately bought her another BMW to drive while we searched for the right engine for this one. Engines are plentiful but she like her 5 series too much now to go back to her 8. This would make a great project car for a kid and his dad or would be an excellent show car since so few were made. Reserve is set low and you must pick up from our home in Charlestown IN.
