Vehicle Detail
Here is a super rare find for fans of the RX-7 – an all original, two-owner 1990 RX-7 with only 69,000 miles! The current seller purchased this car from a neighbor in 2014, who had in turn purchased it new as her “mid-life crisis” Sunday car in 1990. The car had been sitting for several years before its original owner could be convinced to sell it. In 2015 a refurbishment of the car was begun that included the following new items: TiresBatteryAccessory beltsFuel filterElectric radio antennaBrake rotorsBrake padsSpark plugsShifter turret gasket In addition, the following routine maintenance was conducted to get the car in shape before it hit the road again: Front hubs repackedBrake fluid flushClutch fluid flushCoolant flushTransmission fluid flushDifferential fluid flushEngine oil & filter change Since these items were completed the seller and his wife have enjoyed over 700 miles of trouble-free date nights and Sunday drives. The owner, who successfully raced two different Spec Miatas and currently owns two street Miatas – can attest to any interested buyers that this RX-7 is hands-down the best handling sports car he has ever driven. That being said, the “to-do” list on this special car still has some notable items any buyer will want to take on to bring back to fully-restored status. Among them: High beam headlights not working (low beams do) Heater not working Tears in the cloth convertible top (see photos). Replacement tops are readily available on Ebay Windshield wipers only operate at one speed (a common issue – probably the switch) The AC compressor still stop turning, causing the belt to slip. Probably a new compressor is needed The seller is getting ready for an upcoming long-term sailing trip, and as such is beginning the process of reducing his stable of sports cars. Otherwise he would never be parting with this special car! If you've been looking for an RX-7 convertible in particular, or you're interested in a fun restoration project where most of the heavy lifting has already been done, this all-original 69,000 mile RX-7 is for you!On Feb-20-16 at 20:09:49 PST, seller added the following information: Here is a super rare find for fans of the RX-7 – an all original, two-owner 1990 RX-7 with only 69,000 miles! Was just trying to edit a typo. On Feb-25-16 at 12:39:23 PST, seller added the following information: I forgot to mention when writing the original post - the car has a Borla exhaust fitted! When I bought the car the factory mufflers were rusty so I picked up and installed a used Borla system in good condition from a friend. These rotary motors respond very favorably to free flowing exhaust and intake modifications so the Borla really adds to the car's performance and brings a sportier exhaust note to boot! The airbox is still stock but a future buyer could fit a K&N as well to add even more very low cost hp. On Feb-25-16 at 12:47:43 PST, seller added the following information: In response to a private message from a bidder - the paint on this car is original and generally in quite good condition. As seen in the photos it's only been hand washed and I think it would shine up very nicely with a good buffing. It really amazed me how well the paint stood up to the car's outdoor storage. If I were keeping the car I'd just fix a ding on the hood, repair a rust spot near the center-mounted tail light (zoom in on the photos to see both) and buff the exterior paint. One other project I'd have taken on: I would repaint the leather seats. The bolster on the driver seat is a little faded from the sun, so I'd planned to use SEM Color Coat or something similar to shine them back up. The car can be enjoyed plenty as is (we sure have!) but with a little more TLC it can come out as a really fine restored car.
