Vehicle Detail

To start with, let me first say that I am listing this ’68 Pontiac GTO for a well-known classic and muscle car dealership and in doing so, I will be acting as an agent for this dealership. The owner, who is a friend and someone that I have known for over 20 years, founded his dealership in 1996 and has been a veteran of the car business for over 30 years. All of his vehicles are chosen for the highest standards and quality. A careful and complete analysis is done on every one before they offered for sale. I understand that there is a lot of information in my ad. I also understand that this may be boring to the person who is just looking and not buying. However, for the person who is looking to buy and spend their hard earned money, I feel that there is never too much information. As to myself, I am not a dealer, just a (65) year old kid that loves muscle cars. For my work, I am retired from managing a Correctional Facility here in Maine and had worked for the Maine Department of Corrections for (40) years. I am also a respected member of my community. I mention this only because of the value of this car and so that prospective buyers will have some idea as to who they are dealing with. Also, please check out my eBay feedback which is 100% with (1,139) transactions. Many of those have been muscle cars which I have sold to individuals all over the country as well as Canada, England, France, Switzerland and Australia. INTERNATIONAL BIDDERS ARE WELCOME WITH A DOWN PAYMENT VIA PAYPAL AND THE BALANCE VIA WIRE TRANSFER ONLY. Just some quick history on the GTO: The Pontiac GTO is considered by many as the first true muscle car. Whereas other manufacturers were concentrating on their full size lines, Pontiac saw the potential for dropping a big block engine into an intermediate frame and marketing it at a budget price. Pontiac sneaked past the GM restriction on this combination by making the GTO an option on the Tempest model, creating the hottest performance machine yet. The GTO sold in great numbers and would fuel the competition between GM, Ford, and Chrysler that would keep the muscle car industry thriving for years to come. The GTO would later evolve into the Judge, an extroverted option package of the blotted GTO, and would continue the tradition until the GTO died an embarrassing death in 1974. Our 1968 Pontiac GTO convertible is wicked nice and nothing short of “AWESOME”. This particular ‘68 Pontiac GTO convertible had been in the same family for the past 40 years. The Goat was originally from the New Jersey and the Maryland area throughout most of its life. The GTO was actually sold and shipped to Sheldon Pontiac in New Brunswick New Jersey. The Pontiac was sold a few years back to the second owner who restored the car. He stated that his GTO was completely original with original paint, interior and top when he acquired it. You may think "over the top" with this quality restoration, but really, any collector car enthusiast would be proud to add this to his/her collection. This GTO comes with the original owner's New Jersey Title, PHS documentation, Protect-O -Plate, Owner's Manual, Warranty books, service records and receipts of the restoration process. This Pontiac should be considered as a number one (1) condition, frame-off, 1968 GTO convertible. Notice the body lines as they are extremely straight with no waves, dings, dents, scratches or chips in the finish. The roof drip rail moldings, trim, bright work and emblems are all in excellent condition. The original rear bumper was re-chromed with a triple plated show quality chrome. Restored 14" Rally II wheels mounted with BG Goodrich tires. The stainless and bright work is original. Trunk: The car’s trunk is spotless and comes with a spare Rally II wheel, original restored jack assembly, and trunk mat. Mechanical: Mechanically very sound with no notable issues.Undercarriage: The underside has that brand new appearance, like it just came off the showroom floor. Original floors were painted in Solar Red to match the car's exterior finish. The underside was sandblasted and buffed to achieve that high gloss finish. The frame, suspension, front end components, shocks, gas tank sending unit, emergency brake hardware, brake system, body mounts and sway bar links have all been replaced, restored or refurbished. New 2½” dual exhaust system with OEM style mufflers with the original chrome exhaust tip extensions gives this GOAT a nicely tuned stock sound. ID Photos: You can see photo documentation here.
