The original seller is dating my father, who arranged sale of the vehicle to me. Unfortunately since I live in Chicago, the rear-wheel drive is not suitable for me in that climate. I am selling it to a buyer in Florida, preferably the Tampa area. I am visiting my father January 8 through 10 and would like to drive it to the Tampa area on Monday morning, January 11 and meet the buyer anywhere within 40 miles of the Tampa airport. The buyer will obtain a cashier's check before meeting to deliver the vehicle sometime on the afternoon of Monday, January 11. On Jan-02-16 at 16:52:09 PST, seller added the following information: UPDATE ON SATURDAY, JANUARY 2: Dear bidders, I am very sorry, but today I learned that I cannot obtain a title on this vehicle here in Illinois by Friday. My state does not issue expedited titles for vehicle transactions between individuals that take place out of state. As a result, if I pursue getting an Illinois title, and insurance, and registering the car here and putting my Illinois plates on it to drive the vehicle out of The Villages, I won't be able to do it by this coming weekend. I am flying to Orlando on Friday morning -- I can try to go to a tax office in Sumter or Lake Counties near The Villages around noon Friday, in the hopes of getting an expedited license. But the rules I've found online make it clear that I need an insurance policy issued in the state of Florida in order to get temporary tags. As a result, I will be cancelling this auction on the morning of Sunday, January 3 unless one of you can explain to me how I can still make this transaction happen on Monday the 11th. I am willing to get a U-Haul truck with a four-wheel automobile transport in order to legally move the vehicle to Tampa or maybe Orlando -- is this a good course of action? And will it work? At this point, I'm inclined to keep the vehicle in my father's garage until the second weekend of February. I am skiing in Colorado Feb 1-4, I fly home on Saturday February 5, and I intend to watch the Super Bowl here in Illinois on the 6th. I could fly down to Florida the following week, or more likely, weekend. Fridays and Mondays are best for me -- I run a business in Chicago that is busiest Tue-Thu. The vehicle will be delivered to an address specified by the buyer and will have 47,919 miles on the odometer as in the photo in this listing. The car will have no tags attached and the buyer will need to take steps to legally drive the car. I will be happy to tow the car to a tax assessor or DMV office or any location of the buyer's choosing on the afternoon of Monday, January 11. My flight arrives at 10:54am, my father will pick me up at MCO and drive me to The Villages. We will go straight to the Sumter County Tax Assessor's office. I called ahead this week and they assured me that I can obtain a clear title while I wait (for an additional fee, of course). I will have a clear title to this Lexus by 2pm ET Friday, if not sooner. The auction ends at 3:11pm. If the buyer wants to get the car in The Villages during the weekend, that is fine. Otherwise, I have a U-Haul reserved for Sunday morning -- a 10-foot truck with a four-wheel trailer and intend to load up the Lexus on Sunday afternoon and then hit the road to Tampa on Monday morning. I can meet the buyer anywhere in the Tampa metro area after about 10am on Monday morning. I have arranged to return the truck and trailer to the U-Haul location at 3939 W Gandy Blvd in Tampa -- I'd prefer to meet the buyer near there, but again I'm willing to go anywhere. I have a Hertz rental reserved at the Hertz Local Edition at 5110 Manhattan Ave on Monday at noon (if I'm a couple of hours late, no biggie), and would be grateful if I could be given a ride there. But I can have Hertz or Uber take me there readily enough. I don't have a hotel booked yet but I plan to stay near the airport on Monday night and my Southwest flight to Midway is at 8:45am Tuesday morning. Figuring out these logistics, and the prospect of titling and/or registering a car in Florida or Illinois, has taught me many things about owning a car in 21st Century America.
