Vehicle Detail
* The Ragtop will now sell as is, I will not have the time necessary to work on it. I will also be leaving for out of state by Dec. 27 and won`t be back until March. Because of this, this is a one time auction now. If it does not sell, I will deal with it next year. Beetle was listed a few weeks ago, until a mechanical problem caused me to end the auction. I had done a complete tune up as well as coil, battery and voltage regulator. As luck would have it, then the float stuck in the carburetor, which cause fuel to end up in the vacuum advance canister. This ruined the diaphragm. I have purchased a vacuum advance and will go with car. This will either be done, or parts will go with the new owner as their first project for the car. Yes, it starts although running rough I believe could be run up / on a trailer. No, not driving this one home. The rest of the text ( for the most part ) is from the last auction. I purchased this VW Beetle late October, here on Ebay. I have a serious family issue that needs addressed( This has now been paid for so the car is now selling to recoup what I can ). I drove from Michigan to Maine and trailered the car home. A look at my feedback will show the ad with description / pictures from previous owner ( look for josh-13 feedback ). The previous owner owned the Beetle since the early 90s, and had the Beetle restored approx. 1995. The Beetle was from Louisiana in 92-93. I have trophies and Ribbons from the Ragtop being shown over the last 2 decades at local level car shows. Once I had the car home, I realized the battery ( 6 volt system ) was not holding a charge. I bought a new 6 volt battery and also put on a correct ground cable for the battery. Also performed tune up ect...already mentioned. The body and pan are really nice, one of the cleanest cars I have ever seen / owned ( I do not buy rust ). The passenger side pan has had approx. 1/2 replaced, professionally. I knew the brakes pulled hard to the left when first driven. Although considerably better, potential buyer should look at all 4 corners due to the car having sat for the better part of 15 years with minimal use. Lights, turn signals, and brake lights all work as they should. Radio works but signal is weak. Horn is in-operable and I have not looked into it. The gas gauge ( added at some point ) appears to be accurate. Seats are nice with added padding for more comfort when redone. Rear seat has small tears at the bottom front corners, but are not really noticeable. Door panels are old, maybe original. Carpet and mats are nice. Bamboo shelf added. Dash is very nice, nothing cut (main dash). Interior... The headliner is the cloth type. Over the years, it has drawn in some, and has some staining although not terrible, and small tears where lower rear seat rubs when lifting up and lowering back into place. It also Replacing the headliner and a new door panel set would finish the interior off nicely. Exterior... There are a few scratches in the paint, but over all the paint is extremely nice for a driver with a nice high gloss shine. There are no dings or dents to speak of. The exterior color Ceramic Green was only offered in 1960. I believe the bumpers to be older reproductions and are driver quality. I cleaned the set up and they look decent with a nice shine. The door handles have pitting. All rubbers around the glass / door jams are nice, soft and look as new. All glass except windshield are the original German glass, and nice. The ragtop / sunroof functions as it should. Tires are Michelins, although unsure of age, they are like new and run fine with no flat spots. I see virtually no leaks of any significance so far from the underside. 2nd gear is tricky, although I am much better with it than initially. I`ve had this checked / driven by a certified mechanic restorer, and the opinion is its not serious. The previous owner had an engine rebuild with new clutch while the restoration was done. This is This is a very clean, early ragtop. I was told that this is a numbers matching car. I have verified that the chassis numbers and tag under the hood both match 301 3044 ( VIN ). Feel free to ask questions, I will do my best to answer. I am an older adult and have sold many vehicles here, am and as honest as they come. Bid with confidence. My feedback speaks for itself. Good Luck **I would like to see this sold before the holidays. **I have taken multiple pictures of the under-side of the car. Please email me if you would like to see these.** ***Possible delivery with a 600 mile radius of my location for cost of fuel once payment has been paid in full. On Dec-11-15 at 21:33:31 PST, seller added the following information: I have the Beetle listed locally, and have offers. The Beetle will sell to the strongest offer at auctions end.On Dec-14-15 at 12:08:58 PST, seller added the following information: The vacuum advance came in today, so I installed and the Ragtag fired up. Although it should still have a carb rebuild, its running ok. This is typical of a car that sits and not used. I have had so many great people contact me with both information and encouragement. To all those, thank you very much. Now, even though there is still the hard cold start issue, the car is now running and should now bid according to that update. I also checked the engine numbers and it checks to about 1 month prior to the date of the actual build, so should be as it came from the factory. Good LuckOn Dec-15-15 at 06:40:46 PST, seller added the following information: Offers are still welcomeOn Dec-15-15 at 06:59:52 PST, seller added the following information: I was contacted about shipping, this is the responsibility of the ending will work with a buyers shipper, I might be able to haul but payment must first be paid in full. This is something that would have to be discussed and agreed on prior to auction ending.
