Up for bid is a fully restored 1956 Simson Suhl AWO 425 T motorcycle with rare matching 1960 Stoye 2 sidecar. This motorcycle was found in 2009 neglected and pushed up against the wall in a German's old pig barn. Once found it underwent a complete tear down with brand new bearings installed in the motor, new cylinder and head with new rings. Every bit of cable, rubber and wiring was replaced. All metal was sandblasted and then the paint was reapplied to exactly replicate the original paint scheme. This bike was literally restored to as new condition. The Stoye 2 sidecar was also stripped and rebuilt. Everything was replaced except the frame, wheels and body of the sidecar. Just under 1000 KM since restoration.This bike/sidecar won best in class in the one bike show that I was able to enter it in. I'm sure it would keep winning if I had the time. There is a reserve because I am not going to give this away, but it is set to a reasonable and fair price. This following is a brief history on this bike: Suhl is located in the southern part of former East Germany. In the early 20s the company SIMSON manufactured big luxurious cars, cycles and weapons. After the second world war the Russians took over (because of weapon-manufacturing) and they founded the "Awto Welo" better known as AWO (it means car and cycle company). Motorcycles were manufactured beginning in 1952 and up to 1962 (?). The AWO 425 T is a single cylinder 250 cc, 12 hp, four stroke, crank-shaft drive touring model. The AWO 425 T is very similar to the BMW R 26 (after war model) because the commies were adept at copying other technology and then making it their own. They look the same and some parts are interchangeable but don't count on it.
