Vehicle Detail
1991 Chevy Camaro RS Police Interceptor Limited production Chevrolet Camaro RS / Z28 "B4C - Special Services Package" Police Interceptor. 1 of only 592 built in 1991. These cars were delivered to police departments as RS Camaro's, but they were actually built by GM with the L98 350 5.7L tuned port injection motors that had factory special service upgrades including heavy duty oil coolers, raised rear-end gear ratios, heavy duty wiring harness, dual exhaust, heavy duty suspension systems, 4 wheel disc brakes and more. This one was delivered to the Garland Police Department in Garland, TX back in 1991. We bought this back in May of 2014, and we replaced everything on the front end: control arm bushings, all the tie rods, the steering gear box. We installed a new exhaust system with headers and a new catalytic converter so we could pass inspection. We had a shop install it. We've replaced all 4 brake calipers, pads, and rotors. We replaced rear radius rods, sway bar, and shocks. You can eat underneath this car! We replaced the oil pan and checked the main bearings. They were still to the babbit. They looked really good. We changed the hoses to the oil cooler and replaced the starter with a mini. This is all done tastefully. This is a nice car with nice interior, and no rust. We've had some trouble with the transmission. We bought a transmission on Ebay with a shift kit and all the bells and whistles. Needless to say, it never locked up into 4th gear. We sent it to a trans shop and $600 later, they were able to get it to go into 4th gear overdrive. The only problem now is, when it goes into overdrive and you let off the gas, it downshifts to third. It just seems annoying. I have the transmission that came out of the car and there's no problem with it. We were hoping to use it as a daily driver, but perhaps a car collector would be wiling to spend the time and money necessary to get this baby back in good running condition. We've just had enough. We spent too much money for the car in the first place and moving the transmission out 2 times is enough. I got the car for my son because he liked that style, but I think he's tired of me complaining about it. It is a beautiful car and is really cool with its police department interior. New tires recently added with less than 100 miles on them are included! After we put the new tires on it, we had it aligned professionally. And believe it or not, the AC still works! You can see that the mileage listed is different than the picture of the odometer. That is because we changed out the speedometer and tach with all the gauges, so they work also. I also have the original dash if you want those gauges. I've tried to list all the details of work done on this car and it's quirks. We recommend you make time to come out and see this vehicle in person before you bid. Sale is as is and has no warranty included. Ask questions before bidding. $500 deposit required within 48 hours of auction close and balance with 7 days. Check our feedback and bid with confidence. Good luck!
