Vehicle Detail

Hello All, 1976 Oldsmobile 98 up for sale. I purchased this car on eBay about a year ago in need of some TLC. I have done lots of improvements and really enjoyed this vehicle, but another project has caught my eye and I have decided to part with this one. This car was previously from Arkansas where it had spent many years. The body is in good condition with a couple of minor rust bubbles in the usual areas of this model. There are a couple at the bottom of the driver door and middle of the driver rear fender skirt, also a few bubbles un the back deck where the vinyl roof ends near the trunk. These areas are not very big and can hardly be noticed as seen in the photos. The car was repainted some time in the past and the paint is dull. There are no dents or body damage. The bumper fillers were replaced by previous owner with fiberglass replacements. The car runs and drives good! I drive it for short trips to the store and such several times a week and have done one long trip in it and in does good on the road. Doesn't burn a drop of oil. The tires are fairly new by last owner and have lots of tread remaining. The interior is in excellent condition. Driver and passenger arm rests need attention and if not for that, the interior would be pretty much perfect. The dash has a couple of small cracks on the sides but the top (and most important part) is crack free and looks great. Headliner is solid and tight. Some of the options on the car include 6 way power driver seat, Tilt wheel, Cruise Control (works perfect), remote trunk release, lighted vanity mirror. The AM/FM radio works fine but the car originally came with just AM so there is only the front 2 speakers for the radio. Here are some things that were done to the car in recent years as per the previous owner. +Complete 4 wheel brake job including new calipers and rear brake cylinders. No paperwork but you can see they are new. +Rebuilt transmission in 2009. There is a date of 2009 written in paint pen on trans housing that would confirm that. +New tires in 2010 +New fuel pump and fuel gauge sender in fuel tank. +Replaced Fan Clutch Here are things that I have done since purchasing the car. +New plugs, wires, cap and rotor. +New Gates Belts +New Brake Vacuum Booster +New Valve cover Gaskets +New exhaust from muffler back, including tailpipe and resonator +New(remanufactured) Carburetor , the original will be provided. Also the original upper and lower 1976 radiator hoses are in the trunk and still look ok. +Complete AC conversion including Brand New modern technology compressor and conversion to R134A. Old system had locked up compressor and seals bad on VIR assembly. Old system removed and now converted to modern orifice system with accumulator and low pressure switch. For those not familiar, the old system only used from 1974-76 had the compressor running the whole time the AC was on and the pressures regulated by the complicated VIR valve assembly. 1977 all vehicle were converted to the simpler orifice tube metering device with a low pressure switch to cycle the compressor if the pressures got to low. this is a far more reliable setup that is still in use today on most vehicles. +New carpet, this was a nonsmoker vehicle and with new carpet it smell like a new car inside. Here are some issues that may need addressing +The turn signal stalk is a little loose. will still turn on the signal fine +The AC blower doesn't work on medium speed but all other 3 speeds ok. +The headlight dimmer switch was on the floor and I was always hitting it with my foot. When I put the new carpet in I removed the switch and tucked it under the dash. Here in the city I mostly use low beam, but switch can easily be installed back in location on floor. This car is a good driver and overall good condition. There is no warranty on this car and shipping is NOT included. Buyer must pick up car or provide shipping. Car is sold as is and is nearly 40 years old. Please ask any questions before auction ends. Thank You For Looking!!
