Vehicle Detail

NOTE: The previous high bidder backed out before coming to see the car. As such, it is available once again. NOTE: Bidders with less than 10 feedback MUST contact me for approval before bidding. 1959 Cadillac Series 62 SedanGreat driver with some work. Unfortunately, I don't have the time, space, or funds to keep going with this project. Options: A/C (needs to be rebuilt)Power Windows (only one window goes up and down)Autronic Eye (untested)The car is in solid shape, and would make a great driver with some love. It is a project, but one that can be driven and enjoyed while it is worked on. The car originally came from Louisiana.I have had quite a bit of work done in the two years that I've owned it. I have receipts for more than $10,000.00 of work. The original engine was rebuilt by Fitzgerald Automotive in Beacon Falls, CT this past fall. It has about 800 miles on the rebuild and is still being broken in. The transmission was rebuilt by Barrett's Transmissions in Cherry Valley, NY. The brakes were done by the shop in CT, along with the rear end. They also dropped the gas tank, cleaned it, and painted it. Bearing in the steering column just replaced. It runs, shifts, stops great. Here is a list of the work done this past fall:Block checked and cleanedcrankshaft cleaned and installed with new main and rod bearingsnew pistonsnew ringsnew freeze plugs, timing set, oil pump and screen, camshaft and liftersall new gasketsheads were disassembled and reassembled with new rocker shafts that were wornengine assembled and painted and primed with break in oiltransmission painted (rebuilt by Barrett's Transmissions)carburetor rebuiltreplace front exhaust pipes that go from manifolds to resinators with new aluminized pipes both sidesradiator disassembled, core replaced. reassembled, tested, and painted.performed rear end servicereplaced center carrier bearing and housingfront wheel bearings repacked and seal replacedfront right wheel bearing replacedreplaced front wheel cylindersreplaced cracked front brake hoses (front brake shoes and drums in good shape)both rear axle bearings replacedboth rear wheel cylinders and brake hoses replacedleft rear axle seal replaced (rear brake shoes and drums in good shape)replaced the master cylinder- pressed off and on with new axle bearings. brakes bled and road-tested.Most of the work it needs has to do with the body and power options it has. Only one window goes up and down. The others do not work correctly. The windows feel "loose", due to the window tracks I presume. The chrome window frame on the drivers side window has corrosion and should be replaced. Two of the side windows are broken (flat glass). The windshield is also cracked. Replacements are readily available for both the side windows and windshield. The window rubber is old and cracked and needs to be replaced. The dash is not in the best condition, and has a split in the vinyl in the center as the photos show. There is some pitting on the glove box, and on the interior chrome trim. The steering wheel is present, but worn as shown. As is common with this year, the horn ring is broken. The car came without a radio originally, but I have a radio from another 1959 Cadillac that can go with the car- it is ready to be installed. The radio was rebuilt by a shop in SC. Dashboard gauges and cabin fans do not work. The upholstery is old, but in ok shape with no tears. It was likely redone at some point. The headliner is black and has no tears. The paint is in decent shape generally, but is showing its age. Originally a white car. At some point it was repainted black. It is presentable from a distance, but has defects such as small scratches, chips and it is a bit thin in places. As far as rust goes, the frame is solid, as the car lived most of its life in the south. In general the car is solid for its age but not perfect. There is some rust / bubbling in the paint along the lower edges of the body, as seen in the photos. The chrome does have some pitting. The tires are 2 years old, and have seen very little use. The original hubcaps are in the trunk. Four wire hubcaps (probably from a 1970's Caddy) are currently on the car. I do not think the rims on the car now are the original ones. The trunk is not lined- the lining was removed at some point in the past so it is exposed to the metal in there. Inspections welcome and encouraged! A non-refundable $500.00 deposit is required within 24 hours of auction end. Full payment must be received within 7 days of auction end. If the buyer is not in communication with me after 7 days, I reserve the right to re-list the car.
