Vehicle Detail

This is a 1954 Studebaker Pickup Truck. It has a Studebaker 289 V8 engine, with a Studebaker automatic transmission, 4-barrel Holley Carburetor, power steering, 12V alternator. and manual choke operation. It's been a daily driver for short trips (about < 10 miles from home). New spark plugs, wires, ignition coil + points, new battery, cleaned carburetor. Has not seen any highway-speed action...we don't know how it behaves/drives/handles at high speeds. It was mainly driven very gently at around 40 mph or less. It still runs and drives great for 61 years of age...Vehicle is located in South Bend, Indiana. Comes with relevant shop repair manuals, extra headlights, extra rear windshield glass, and extra rear passenger-side fender in excellent condition! Update Sep. 28: It was brought to our attention that a portion of the frame has been replaced with possibly another frame section from another vehicle. Please look at the video below. We do not know the details as to with what it was replaced with, how, when, and how much..... It does handle and drive well on the roads. (Although, we've driven it at less then 40 mph, not very far from home). Here are the issues (see photos and the video): There is a large crack in the lower portion of the windshieldRust (ate through the metal) on the lower corners of the doors and passenger-side cabin support Paint is chipped and surface rust throughout the bed and rear tailgate region. Paint is chipped and scratched on top of the cab and on the front & rear fendersSome body work (bondo) near the rear fenderInterior headliner/design...is....missing. Non-functional radio.Poorly functioning (sometimes non-functioning) heater/air blowerThe wiring is working great...but it's not pleasing to the eyes (see photos)The transmission shifts very jerky...it shifts...but it jerks quite harsh when it does soMissing air duct 'connector' Speedometer needle is 'sticky' Once engine warms up, the oil pressure drops from 40 psi down to around 15-20 psi during idle.Frame has been altered/replaced with another frame (do not know when this was done nor how nor from where the front portion frame came from...) Please see frame photos below. As you can see from the photos and the video below, it's not a museum quality car, but she runs and drives great. Perhaps somebody with time and resources on their hands can restore this trusty truck to its former glory. Here is a video demonstration of the truck: Here are some pictures of the portion of the frame, which is not Studebaker: The dimensions of the truck are as follows:Height: 74 inchesWidth: 81 inchesLength (bumper-to-bumper): 198 inches Starting price = Selling price = Reserve Price = $5000 PLEASE read before bidding:Please watch the above video in its entirety...and also look at all the photos...and read this entire ad/listing.We have presented this Vehicle to the best of our abilities and knowledge. Keep your expectations to reality. In its current state, it won't win you any car awards nor will it run on unicorn wishes! On Oct-04-15 at 21:03:48 PDT, seller added the following information: Q: If I live far away from Indiana...i.e. on the West Coast or on the East Coast...can I drive the truck back home...or should I trailer it or use a shipping company ?? A: We only drive this car at very slow/gentle speeds, very close to home...no more than 10 miles from the house. Coupled with the jerky transmission explained above and in the video, we have no idea what would happen - if anything- if you start driving it on the highway. We would not recommend you drive this truck for many many miles home. We would strongly recommend to use a trailer or hire a shipping company, just to be on the safe side! Q: Will the truck clear the ramps/heights on trailer transportation haulers used by Shipping Companies (two story vehicle hauler) ? A: The dimensions of the truck are given in the listing above. Based on the height of 74 inches, it might not fit in a typical transporter vehicle hauler...unless put onto the very top platform. This is something that the Winning Bidder will have to coordinate with the Shipping Company, making sure that the overall height of the hauler + trailer will clear any bridges or if the total height will not violate any restrictions set forth by the Shipping Company. All shipping/transportation methods is at the expense and responsibility of the Winning Bidder. Q: When is payment and vehicle removal expected ? A: We expect the Winning Bidder to pay and remove the vehicle off of our premises no more then 7-10 days after the conclusion of the auction/listing. Q: Instrumentation gauges all work ? A: The gas gauge sometimes works...sometimes doesn't...I wouldn't trust it. The coolant gauge doesn't work (not connected). The ammeter gauge works great. Speedometer needle is sticking. Q: Does this vehicle come with any extra parts, manuals, etc.... ? A: Yes! We have extra headlights, extra rear windshield, a rear passenger fender (in excellent condition), relevant Studebaker shop repair manuals for the 1950s trucks, spare wheel, and proper paperwork!
