Vehicle Detail
Thanks for looking at our 1990 Chevrolet Corvette ZR-1! If you're viewing this ad you likely already know what makes this car so special, in a time period where sports cars were mostly underpowered the ZR-1 stood out in a big way. This car has the legendary Lotus designed 32 valve 4 cam 5.7 liter LT5 engine manufactured by Mercruiser. With 375 horsepower on tap and a german made ZF 6 speed manual transmission the ZR-1 is still fast even by today's standards. This particular ZR-1 is painted in a very rare color, Charcoal Metallic, of which only 76 total cars were produced in 1990! It has 123k miles, the interior and exterior shows very well for the age and miles. It has like-new Goodyear Eagle F1 tires on all 4 corners and rides excellent. The brakes and clutch feel good, the transmission shifts well through all gears (does occasionally grind downshifting into first, common to this trans). The engine starts and idles well and runs very smoothly in the "normal" low horsepower mode, in the "high power" setting it chugs at higher RPM's. This car does need some TLC;The engine smokes at higher RPM's due to vacuum issues with the variable intake plenum (moreso in the "high power" setting), my mechanics tell me there's an issue with variable intake plenum system possibly not opening on one side, and it's tied into the vacuum and PCV system and is most likely causing the high RPM oil consumption. There is some paint chips on the driver front fender, the steering column wiggles (loose torx nut in column). The HVAC controls need to be fixed (currently set but locked at about 70 degrees, but the AC works), first gear occasionally grinds if downshifting at higher RPM (common on the ZF 6 speed), There is an airbag light on. Most of these issues are common C4 issues, and keep in mind the car is 25 years old so it's not new, but despite it's faults it's a nice car with loads of potential to be an excellent car. I've tried to describe the car to the best of my ability, but as always I strongly encourage potential buyers to come view the car in person before bidding. I'm listing the car exactly as I bought it to give someone a chance to own a real quad-cam LT5 powered 6 speed manual Corvette ZR-1 cheaper than you will find anywhere else. If the car doesn't sell my service department will fix all the issues and the car will be for sale in the spring for a lot more money. Buy it now as-is and fix it yourself and have a supercar for econobox money! Feel free to call or text Don at 810 845 1067 for more information. The car is currently located at one of my car lots at in Clio Michigan that's open from 8:30AM-6PM Monday-Saturday. We are a licensed used car dealer so the buyer will be responsible for all applicable sales tax and title costs as well as a $200 Doc fee.
