1974 Volkswagen Type 181 "Thing" with rare removable hard top! I have two “Things” and one must go! LOW LOW LOW RESERVE!! Restoration in process with the following new parts and work performed over the last 6 months. · New high performance 1776 Engine (just broken in after complete rebuild and requires final setup and tuning) · New Fan Shroud and oil cooler · New Intake Manifold · New 38mm EGAS Carburetor · New Distributor and wires · New Chrome valve covers · New exhaust system · New Battery · New Clutch and pressure plate · New Off road tires and Powder coated wheels · New Master Cylinder · New Complete Brake Job New engine starts right up and is ready for final valve and carb adjustment and tuning. Stops, steers and rides great. 3 inch (Up-your-bug) Body-lift with larger than stock fiberglass off road rear fenders to accommodate off road tires. Currently painted desert tan. Paint is faded with two mismatched doors that were replaced after the originals were stolen many years ago. The original color is Avocado Green which is still evident in the engine compartment if you chose to return the car to its original color. This is very dry essentially rust free New Mexico vehicle that is currently in Southern California vehicle which I would consider 99% rust free with the only very minor rust in the floor near the battery area. This is VERY minor with the extent being one hole in the floor about the size of a quarter. Set up for towing with trailer lights and includes the tow bar included Current registration CA tags and clear title. Personalized license plate not included. I have two “Things” and can only keep one so it’s time for this one to go to the right home to complete the restoration or enjoy as is.
