Vehicle Detail
My fiance and I have owned the car since 2002. The person who I believe is the original owner is the man my fiance bought it from (his name is listed on one of the bills for the transmission rebuild.) I never ran a car fax or anything but my fiance and I recall being told this and the man was a very friendly and helpful neighbor who lived a few houses down from her. I believe he was a retired mechanic who worked on cars here and there (mostly his own and family and friends out of his house). He drove the car personally for many years and then his daughter drove it for many years as well when he started driving something else. He always maintained it for her the whole time she drove it. When she graduated college and got a good job she wanted something fancy for her efforts and since my fiance and I were still college students with very little money we bought the car as we were needing something extremely reliable to get to class everyday on time without spending a lot of money for something brand new with low miles. The car has never broke down on us since we owned it so the old camry's really do live up to the reputation. We have not used the car in a few years as we have since upgraded to much newer cars. Mileage is currently 242,616. My fiance and I put roughly 30k miles on the car since 2002 as we don't drive very much and have short commutes to work/school even when we didn't work at home. The transmission has been professionally rebuilt at 203,000 miles by ATCO and was paid for by the original owner (picture of bill is in listing). I also believe it has a new or rebuilt torque converter. The printout of all of the maintence done as well was also done by the previous owner. This includes a new alternator timing belt water pump and front and rear brakes at 203k miles. The transmission fluid is good and red and I had it serviced once about 10k miles ago so there is no need to service it (change fluid) any time soon. I think you can go 25k miles or something if you are mostly highway driving and gentle on it as I was. I personally put in new platinum spark plugs with antisieze for ease of future removal a few years ago right before I stopped driving it at about 241k miles. I also put in new wires and cap and rotor and air filter that have less then 2000 miles on them since the car was parked. The fuel filter is new as well and was done by a shop less then 2000 miles ago. The car had a pioneer cd player which I took out to put in my pickup but it still has the wiring kit so you can put a pioneer deck right back into it if you choose. It also comes with original am/fm cassette deck and original wiring harness as pictured but it is not installed. Personally I would just add a cd player from pioneer so it plugs right in and you don't have to buy a wiring harness. This is pictured in the listing as well. The automatic transmission with overdrive works great. The car runs great and does not burn oil even when you first start it up. It has 2 new axels in the front end with less then 5000 miles on them that I paid a shop over 500.00 to do. The work was done by a professional auto shop. It has a new radiator and hoses which was done a few years ago but low actual miles on it (less then 10k miles). The tires are fairly new with good tread and life left on them. I replaced all of them at one point while owning the car 2 at a time and one when I got a flat and tore the sidewall so I put a total of 5 tires on the car mostly due to flats since I have owned it. I got a flat and My fiance got 2 flats while owning the car so we never got to the point of letting the tires get maximum tread wear. The front brake pads and rotors are new and have less than 2000 miles on them they were done at the same time I did the spark plugs. The brakes were only worn down half way but I figured I'd change them to be safe. As of September of this year I drove the car around my yard and up and down my 1000 ft. driveway and it runs and drives great and the brakes stop very well with good feel. It does need a new battery and I currently have to start it up with a jump from my truck. It is an LE model and has a sunroof/moonroof and power windows and locks. All of the locks try to come up when I hit the power locks but with me hooking it up to an old booster pack it may not be enough juice to make them all jump up by themselves. From when I drove the car as a daily driver I do recall not being able to open the driver side lock with even the key after one bad winter. prior to the sub zero day I never had any trouble with it and although it pre-dates keyless entry you would just unlock the driver side with the key and all of the power locks would come up. Once that driver door froze that one winter day I think the lock jammed and that is why you can't open it. The lock tries to pop up with the power locks but it just won't. I tried to turn it with the key and pull it up by hand but still couldn't unlock it. You can feel the actuator/solenoid thing pushing the lock but its just jammed. The door does open and close once you get it to unlock and all of the other doors function fine and locks pull up by hand to lock or unlock. I think someone just needs to take the door panel off and grease the mechanism on the driver side. When I last drove the car a few years ago, the driver window had trouble going up and down and I would have to push it up by hand so it needs at the very least an adjustment. The other windows all worked and so did the sunroof but I have not tested them since I last drove the car a few years ago out of fear they may not work or have a dirty switch and then I can't get them closed. I don't want to take the risk with the rain but I assume they are okay or just need switch cleaning or lubrication from sitting at the very worse. Aside what I just mentioned . Everything works as it should except for: Automatic seat belts don't move. Might be just a fuse. Never looked at it. It does need a new battery due to age. It could use a rear passenger side window as it was broken about 10 years ago and I had to replace it with plexiglass and silicone as I do not know how to replace a window glass and could not afford to pay a mechanic to do it. It works just fine as is. The driver window regulator needs replacement or adjustment as the window has a lot of trouble going up and down as previously mentioned. It has a glass sunroof that works the last time I drove it but will leak a little in very hard rain. It has an exhaust leak near the flex pipe part but the car runs fine with no check engine light and it is just a little noisy as its not a crazy big leak. The heat works great but ac probably needs a recharge as it did not work since I owned the car and I never looked into it. The winshield has a crack but its mostly near the passenger side of the car so it doesn't effect your ability to see and drive safely. Also I think the car has a blown fuse as the interior lights and tailights went out suddenly. The headlights and highbeams and directionals as well as dash warning lights and high beam indicators all work and come on right away. I do not know where the fuses are located to even check them nor do I have any to replace if any are blown. I asked a friend and he said that is most likely what it is since it happened when I removed the pioneer stereo I had in there. The car is an LE model and has power windows and locks, sunroof and alloy wheels. The brakes are very good and it stops a lot better then my 91 s10 pickup. The engine is a four cylinder 2.0L with fuel injection. I always had the oil changed every 2000 miles since it is a high mileage vehicle and I was told by a mechanic that doing so will reduce engine wear. The oil is currently clean and clear but it is a few years old. I would highly recommend changing it immediatley before driving it any type of distance to insure the engine is protected with fresh oil. The interior is a little dirty and could use a good cleaning inside and out. I had the original stereo deck on a shoe box and then sealed up in a white trash bag on the bag seat and the sun dried the bag out causing it to disintigrate into a bunch of little pieces. They were all stuck to my hand when I took the radio out to take the picture of it so someone with a good shop vac will have to vacuum out the back seat. Better yet do it at a gas station that you pay 50 cents for once the car is insured to drive on the road so you don't have all that plastic going in your vacuum. I don't have a shop vac or I would do it. People on ebay/online are selling the transmissions alone for 800.00 to 1000.00 and the motors for around the same price so what I am starting the bid at for the whole package is well worth it to someone interested in this car as a whole or its parts. Please note that I will not part it out though as its not worth the hassle and I don't have the knowhow or time to deal with that. The car will have to sell as a whole. Car is sold as is. Have clean and clear title in hand currently in my name. Pick up only, I will not ship the car and I will not part out the car it must be sold as a whole. Clean title in hand that is in my name only and ready to be signed over to you the buyer. Thank you and happy bidding.
