Vehicle Detail

1995 Lexus LS 400 with SALVAGE TITLE This car has been in our family since new. Mostly garage stored. Approx 119,000 miles Fully documented maintenance history - most work was performed by Lexus. Timing belt has been changed at around 90K miles. This can be verified by calling Lexus and providing the VIN number. I have all the maintenance records on a PDF up through 2013 and can email those upon request. Maintenance records since 2013 are on paper and can be provided upon request. This car was in Boston up until about 2 years ago. Because of this, the Boston roads and the salt treatment that they perform on the roads has caused corrosion of the aluminum components of this car. There is no rust on the steel parts or the body of this car. I have a recent carfax showing that the car was a total loss, and can provide that upon request. I spun this car driving at about 25mph on the wet July (July 9 to be exact) roads and collided with two parked cars here in Piedmont. Choy Auto Body (Oakland, CA) gave me a rough estimate of $4K (including painting) to do the repairs, however, someone who is handy should be able to do this work themselves for far less. I have a written estimate from another shop in Oakland, CA, willing to do all the body work for about $2800 (without painting). The front bumper assembly, front fenders, and headlights need to be replaced. I removed the broken headlights as there were sharp glass / plastic fragments exposed. The check engine light is on, and the reason for this is the charcoal canister. (it needs to be replaced.) The backlight on the radio does not work. There are some LEDs that are not operational on the radio. The sound is fine from am / fm / tape / and the 6 CD changer works fine. Antenna moves up and down without issue. Sunroof opens and closes without issue, and there are no leaks from the sunroof. The buyer will be responsible for obtaining a smog certificate. Also, the buyer will be responsible for working with the DMV to convert the title from the normal status to a 'salvage' status. The collision has caused the plastic mud guards to move closer to the tires, and as a result, the tires rub against the mud guard when the car hits a bump. This car has brand new shocks / struts - installed just a few months ago. New battery installed about 2 years ago. These cars are tanks and last forever. Some repairs will get this back on the road. This is a fantastic car.
